Happy Monday!
May I just say that I have the best friendslist EVAR? The outpouring of encouragement that I received on my pity post from last week was inspiration enough to get me moving on the 30 Rock vid. I'm totally cooking now, babies! Woot. Why did I ever think that vidding wasn't fun? Oh, yeah, that's right. Clipping. Anyway, that's all behind me now--clear sailing ahead. I might even be done by this weekend. Just hold on for a little bit longer, counteragent, there's a light at the end of the tunnel! \o/ Now that I've mixed entirely too many metaphors, let's move on, shall we? ;)
My sister is so cute sometimes. Yesterday, before I left to go to brunch with svmadelyn, frostfire_17 and thehoyden, she said "have fun being white and nerdy!" I guffawed and turned to look at her. She was like, "What? I know how you do." I couldn't deny it. And, lo, what did Frost and I end up talking about? Dungeons and Dragons! Hee. Sadly, I have to say the brunch joint was entirely lacking in nerds, aside from our table. It turned out to be a sport bar packed with cooker-cutter yuppies. Ack! I used to envy those sorts of people--you know the type: Abercrombie and Fitch, baseball caps on backwards, uniformly thin and pretty. Now they just make me sigh and shake my head. I wondered to myself, why are they even here together? There was music blaring, so it couldn't be for the conversation. There were TVs all around, so they weren't even looking at each other. What's the point? For my part, the restaurant was a huge failure precisely because of the music and TV. I wanted to actually converse with the women who were sitting with me because they are uniformly smart and funny. They are my people, and I'm glad of it.
