Title: The Real Meaning of Member Ai (Part 4 of 4)
Author: talisa_ahn
Pairing: None… but if you’re the type of person to look real hard… maybe MassuPi or KoyaPi
Disclaimer: Sadly, no, I do not have anything to do with anything related to JE. *sigh*
Genre: Drama? I don’t usually write like this so I’m not really sure
Rating: PG
Summary: Massu’s away for filming but things go wrong back home. What happened to Pi?
Warning: Kinda depressing for Valentine’s season. Just saying.
A/N: I am well aware that Massu’s RESCUE filming is in Tokyo (well… Yokohama. Close enough). Humor me.
-----------------------------------------
The moment he was done with filming his scenes, Massu was on the first flight back to Tokyo. The staff had felt bad for him and didn’t make him catch the train back like the rest of the cast. He’d nearly cried when they handed him the plane ticket.
As he pushed through the airport, his mind was a whirlwind of questions and doubts. How would Yamapi look? Would he be okay? He imagined his friend lying in the hospital bed, face as white as the sheet without the strength to even sit up.
But when he spotted the familiar car, he nearly dove in and couldn’t help but smile at the familiarity that washed over him. “Tadaima, Kei-chan.”
He returned it with one of his own.
“Okaeri.”
.oO@Oo.
It was past visiting hours by the time they reached the hospital, but no one said anything as they approached the ICU, although he did get some interested looks from some of the nurses. When they got to the door Massu assumed was Yamapi’s, they slid the door open. They were welcome to the scene of Ryo sitting on the window sill, Shige asleep in the chair next to him…
And Tegoshi helping Yamapi eat a cup-o-noodle.
“That’s not on the list of approved foods,” Koyama said flatly.
They all turned to look at him. Tegoshi was about say ‘oops’ but then he caught sight of Massu. Instantly forgetting that he was in trouble, he instead cried out, “Massu~!” before flying into his best friend’s arms.
The commotion woke Shige up. “Massu, okaeri.”
He smiled. “Tadaima.”
On the other side of the room, Koyama was having a difficult time deciding who to scold. He settled on pouting at Yamapi, wagging the near-empty styrofoam cup in his hand. “You shouldn’t be eating this.”
“I was craving it, so Ryo-chan got it for me.”
When Koyama puffed his cheeks to look at the man sitting on the window sill, Ryo only shrugged. “He’s like a teenager with the midnight munchies.”
Breaking away from Tegoshi, he got his first good look at the man in the bed. His face was thinner than he remembered but although he could see the exhaustion around his eyes, Pi was smiling. “You don’t look as bad as I expected,” Massu finally admitted.
“But you do,” Ryo said softly.
He was about to exclaim how worried he’d been, but then Yamapi reached up to take his hand.
“They said that I might get to leave the ICU tomorrow,” he murmured excitedly.
A wave of relief washed over him. For the first time in a long time, he honestly felt that everything was going to be okay. His face brightened. “Yokatta…”
“What he means to say is that he might get to leave the ICU tomorrow, if he can last through the night without the medication,” Ryo corrected. Koyama continued to pout at the Styrofoam cup.
“Close enough,” Yamapi muttered, yawning and settling back into the pillows.
Massu looked around him as he settled into a chair next to Pi’s bed. He thought back on the things that Akanishi and Nakamaru had said to him over the course of this whole ordeal. As he fell asleep, head rested next to Pi’s shoulder on the bed, he couldn’t help but feel just how lucky he was to have all of them in his life. People made fun of Koyama a lot when he talked about ‘member ai’, all of them included, but it was times like this that they all understood the real meaning of ‘member ai’.
OWARI
A/N: Finished~! I hope it didn’t disappoint… ^^; I don’t care for the last line… but I can’t figure out a different one. Maybe someday I’ll edit?
I’m working on my V-day MassuPi fic at the request of Laruku… who decided it would be an awesome idea to text it to me at 4am. >.>
For those who stuck with this through all 4 parts, I really appreciate it. I’ve been trying to decide whether or not I should explain this fic a bit more, but I figured that I should. Honestly, one of the main reasons I write fics is to help me deal with my actual life. I’m not one for a sad ending, so when I write, it causes me to see the positive outcome. 4 weeks ago, our grandpa was sent to the hospital. My family’s in Hawaii. I’m working here in Japan. Anyway. I wrote this when I was trying to deal with it all. On a happier note, he’s being moved to the rehab center for physical therapy tomorrow.
