You've been a good ally to me whether you knew it or not, Strife, and I do appreciate that. I'm sure you're aware of what was in the paper in regards to the WRO. When I found myself without Turks and you willing to accompany me, I saw an opportunity. And I took it. The idea had been for you and I to be seen in public so that the media would choose to focus on me and less on the WRO and Reeve to criticize or pick at. Had I warned you, you probably would have been on the look out for the media.

It was necessary at the time in my opinion. I've been making something of a habit of trying to put myself and Shin-Ra between the WRO and possible damages.

As I am sure Reeve will tell you soon, I have decided for reasons to cut the WRO off from Shin-Ra, myself, and all assets of both. I thought it best to inform you given circumstances and the possible fall out to you and yours.

Thank you for helping me when it was needed, Strife. I am grateful, especially with what happened in the lab.

So, your plan was to get the rumour-mill turning about us?

...ah, you cut funding. That will probably hurt the WRO, but Reeve is smart. He's just stressed out.

As for the lab incident, you shouldn't have to thank me. You were paying me to do that job, and I can hardly collect pay if you're dead. Besides, talking to you can sometimes be inciteful.

I cannot recall the last time someone did anything 'out of the goodness of their heart'. Nine out of ten, like Reeve, it's been done for money or whatever they believe the Shinra name or backing can accomplish for them ( ... )
