San Diego Witch Creek Fires

Oct 23, 2007 00:33

San Diego County is on fire. Eight or nince fires burned today all throughout the county. My parents and youngest brother were evacuated from Poway around noon Pacific time, Monday the 22nd. They are in Santee and San Diego, while my other brother brother was forced to move north to Fallbrook, and then move north again to LA due to fires and road closures. The northeast edges of Poway are on fire, but it hasn't, as far as I know, reached my neighborhood (yet).

The Witch Creek Fire, as of this posting, is 0% contained, yes that is ZERO precent!! The winds were blowing at 70-80 miles per hour throughout the day, making it impossible for heliocopters to drop water. We normally get alot of air support when these fires happen. Since that is currently impossible, 1,000 fire trucks are reportedly -driving- into San Diego from northern California and other states, but we can only hope they get there in time.

I've heard that two of the other fires, at least, are 100% contained.

It is reported that the entire town of Ramona was told to evacuate. It's snowing ash in San Diego County today.
