Jade as in the candle I am burning.
Today was both a good day and a bad day. It was bad because my lizard died; it was good because after that I went to the mall with Carz and my mom and had fun.
I was upset but I was sort-of expecting it, since he hasn't been well. The pet store kept saying he was just hibernating, but that didn't make much sense because he was a desert lizard. I have a feeling he had adenovirus, though, because I looked up the symptoms on the Internet. Which isn't good; that means I need to disinfect the cage and the surrounding area, especially to make sure the leopard gecko doesn't get it...though I think it's mostly through direct contraction.
I don't know if I'm going to get another reptile or not. Doubtful, since I'll be going to college in a few years, most likely. If I did get another one, though, I'd most likely get a garter snake or some docile lizard...mali uromastyx or something. Maybe another bearded dragon, since mine was so cool. My brother has a leopard gecko, but he's not exactly "docile" because my brother didn't hold him enough when he was little. So maybe I can just try to domesticate him or something some more...
Did you know you could keep Fennec foxes as pets? I guess I knew you could, since I know a guy who keeps a snowy owl, a chinchilla, a boa constrictor, a few beardies, and some other "exotic pets"...but I didn't know it was so common. I mean, there's actually Fennec fox breeders. And they can pretty much be domesticated to a degree, so they're kinda like a cat-dog hybrid...like a fuzzy Chihuahua with a bushy tail, actually. And they eat almost anything since they're omnivorous. That's so weird. I'd get one, but my mom would never let me. Plus, they're high-maintenance in the respect that they're, like, hyper-active... o.o oh well. I just thought that was interesting, all the same...and I just spent the last half-hour reading up on the subject.
