So I finally got WoW to work. It took me 4 days :-( I borrowed a copy off a friend but his Guest Pass had been used so i couldn't (I did try). So I went to the WOW Eu site to get a Guest Pass but their security prove-you-are-not-a-'bot system was repeatedly shagged...no matter how many times you put in the correct sequence from the random image it was always failing you, and I did try this on a couple of PC's. I was just about at my wits end when I decided to pop ito HMV on my way home Thursday evening and see how much WoW actually cost and whether it was financially viable just to check out a game I may never play. I was just about to cave in to the €40 odd when I noticed a single DVD 14 day Trial version for €2.50 (how they got €2.50 from £1.49 I will never know). I bought it and used the code from it to create a guest account which I used to log in to the already installed version that I had borrowed...never actually used the DVD (so if I get a retail version, not doubt it will come with a Guest Pass as well as the Retail pass. If anyone wants it they are welcome to the DVD as well :-))
So, now I have 2 characters on 2 different Servers. It wouldn't let me into Argent Dawn at first (it wasn't on the list) so I created an Alliance Night Elf Hunter called Callo on Aerie Peak (it also wouldn't let me in to any of the other Servers that people had said they were on.) Callo is now a Level 12 Hunter with a Pet and a Skinning Knife (guess where he is going professionally) and is a Founding member of a Guild called Guardians of the Wild.
Finally I convinced it to let me in to Argent Dawn where I have created a Horde Troll Warrior called....dam, I can't remember (I'll edit later) and I am now looking to join the Red branch (bastun take note)
The game seems OK, it is certainly better graphically than EQ. The interface and engine remind me of EQII but it runs better and I do like the Hunter concept where a bow actually does real damage...all I need to do now is find away to stop aggro'ing the mobs so they close to Melee...I'm shit at Melee. I may very well stay with WoW (and EQ as well)
