Worked the Family Values Tour, featuring Stone Sour, Deftones, Korn, and others, on Tuesday. For 13 hours.
The weather was horrible, pouring rain all day...mud pits in Riverbend's lawn section...drunk/drugged people in general...
But hanging out with the jocks all day was nice. Met Stone Sour and got things signed for some friends who really like them. Only really got to see all of KORN's performance, which actually lasted a good hour and a 45, and I was really impressed. Really. I am by no means a KORN follower, by the way. But I ended up knowing more songs than I thought I did; at least 6 or so. Jonathan Davis sounds exactly like he does on the recordings. I have no idea how he does it. He can go from his "normal" voice to his weird "satanic"-sounding voice flawlessly. He also wore a kilt (black) and played bagpipes. Drummer David Silveria was A M A Z I N G. Played some conga drums, too. There was actually another band on stage with them...so they had multiple drum kits up there, guitars, keyboards, etc, etc. (couldn't find out who they were, but they wore animal masks and acted weird). Made for a very full sound, especially from the bass drums.
This weekend I work Oktoberfest in Cincinnati.
