Dear Customer Service,
Since your contact format prevents me from contacting the people I really want to talk to, I'm afraid I'll have to direct my complaints to your overworked eyes.
It has recently come to my attention that Amazon.com is implementing a new policy to remove adult material from the ranking system. While I applaud this decision, knowing how many minors browse Amazon.com to populate their wish lists, I'm afraid there seems to be a glitch in the implementation.
Every gay and lesbian book, from the small books for children to learn how to talk to others about their gay parents, to the unabashed porn, have all been swept under the term "adult." I feel that if homosexuality is to be thought as offensive learning material, then so, too, should books that walk children through puberty, expectant mothers through pregnancy, and stale marriage beds into excitement.
I also found that many, rather famous, heterosexual romance novel writers, as well as unflinching pornographic material such as playboy and playgirl, have not yet been cleaned from the system. I understand that Amazon.com has a large database, and that time must be given for all changes to be implemented.
In the mean time, however, I and many others will be boycotting Amazon.com and its affiliate companies until fairness has been reachieved. If adult material should be banned, then all adult material should be banned. If sexuality should be banned, then all facets of sexuality in literature should be banned.
I look forward to doing business with you again.
Yours sincerely,
Rebecca Knight
