Local Massage Therapist Shows Massage is For All Incomes
AMHERST, NH - a licensed massage therapist from Amherst, NH, will be conducting a two week-long contest to win one of fifty $25 gift certificates towards a massage therapy session, in observance of National Massage Therapy Awareness Week, a national program sponsored by the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA).
“Many people are unaware of the huge impact that stress has on their lives.” explains S, “This contest is my way of bringing awareness to the difference a massage can make in daily stress levels, regardless of your background.”
Research in the International Journal of Neuroscience indicates that as one 15-minute chair massage results in decreased job stress, increased alertness and increased speed and accuracy on math computations. The National Council on Compensation Insurance released studies which support this information, indicating that over 50% of lost work days are stress related, which keeps about 1 millions people per day from attending work.
"Through this promotion and National Massage Therapy Awareness Week, AMTA members hope to better educate people about the benefits of massage for them throughout their lives," said S.
The contest will be available to any adult, ages18 and older. There is no purchase necessary to enter the contest. One may enter by going online to
http://www.scohenlmt.com between October 18 and October 31. The contestant is only required to answer some basic questions regarding their views on massage therapy. On October 31, 2007, fifty random entries will be selected and the gift certificates mailed out to the winning participants by November 10.
"My massage practice focuses primarily on therapeutic massage in my patient’s homes," said S. "I can treat everyone from young adults to senior citizens. But, regardless of your age, massage can enhance your health, help relieve stress or help you recover from injuries. It has even been estimated that stress accounts for $26 billion in medical and disability payments and $95 billing in lost productivity per year. I hope that this contest will help people rethink how they view massage on a regular basis."
S is a licensed massage therapist who has been practicing in New Hampshire and Maine for over two years. The majority of her practice is devoted to therapeutic massage, where she provides pain relief and muscular relaxation to patients with immediate or chronic pain, often with physician referrals. She is one of the few massage therapists who accepts insurance referrals in the State of New Hampshire, thereby enabling many clients to afford treatment that normally would not.
AMTA is a professional association of more than 39,000 massage therapists. All AMTA professional members have demonstrated a certain level of skill and knowledge through education and testing.
Belly dancing workshop
Hey ladies- I thought I’d mention that I’m teaching a bellydancing workshop on Thursday, November 1, in Derry. It’s a 2-hour workshop that covers a little bit of everything (to provide a “taste” of what bellydancing has to offer), and it only costs $20 (pre-registered). If you know of anyone who might be interested, please spread the word- the information can be found on my website, on the “lessons and appearances” page. (Also, if you know of anyone who belongs to Focus on Fitness in Manchester, I’ll be teaching a workshop there too! Info is on my website.)
Thanks for helping me spread the word!

If there is enough interest, the session will be next Wed, Oct. 24, at 7:30 pm at Worcester State College. Please reply privately before this weekend if you would plan to attend, and I will confirm if enough people sign up.
Thanks all, Kathy/Makhta
