Had a pleasant surprise when I woke up this morning and I just wanted to say 'Thank You!'. Normally, the list of suspects in these things is one person long, but I happen to know that person far and away prefers 'Broken Things' to 'Unfinished Business' so in this particular case I doubt she's to blame... So, whoever you may be, I just wanted to express my gratitude to whoever is responsible.

Sunnydale Memorial AwardsAnd for those of you wondering how I'm getting on with my super-not-so-sekrit writing project, I'm hoping to finish Chapter 2 later today, which would put me approximately half way... Of course, hubby is taking another day off this week which means another day where I get nothing done. We saw a push bike on sale when we were in the nearest big town on Friday and hubby was sort of half looking at it but then saying that he might as well leave it until he finds out for definite where they're going to move his office to when it moves, the idea being that if the new office is closer and doesn't mean going down a motorway, then he would take the bike to work rather than public transport. (Neither of us drive). Thing is, the bike in question is reduced by £170 right now (well under half price) and it's black. That might not seem like a major deal to most people, but hubby is a Goth type and if it came to him having to get a different colour his face would be twisting, and he did say that if he did get it, he could use it when he goes to the local supermarket rather than walking...
Even if it makes a huge hole in my deposit account, I'd also far rather spend £135 on a bike and accessories for him (if he'll use them) than give him even £50 to buy himself toy soldiers for Christmas and any time you ask him what he wants, that's all he ever asks for. Anything else he wants, he either just buys it, or, if he can't afford it, then I can't either. He buys lead figures too, of course, but he just never seems to get to a point where he has enough. I just hate giving him money to buy that stuff because it's just one more part drawer of lead figures in the midst of dozens of other drawers of lead figures and I can't even tell them apart. I end up feeling like the money's just disappeared into a bottomless pit.
Anyway, I checked the Halford's website and the bike we were looking at doesn't seem to be on there, plus I'd rather he actually tried out the thing to make sure we got the right height frame. We couldn't go on Saturday because his parents were coming over, so, basically, he's trying to get a day off this week to go get one before they sell out/come off sale... and I end up losing another day that I was counting on to work on the Wes fic.
However, he's away on a course the week after, which could be really good if it means I get an extra four or five hours writing time per day while he's away... or it could be really bad if I end up feeling unsettled as I sometimes do when he's not around, because then I find it really hard to get anything done at all... which I guess means I should get back to work and get as much done now as I can... despite the fact I sort of want to roll over and go back to sleep.
