The 3rd corridor is in shambles. Piles of debris make it hard to traverse the tight space; Mia is literally forced to crawl and squeeze under heaps of mortar and wood.
Ahead, shouts resonate. A badly wounded Orc stumbles around a corner, cluching its bleeding abdomen. It spills onto the floor, dying. Mia stares forward, viewing the horrid display of Orc blood decorating the stone walls.
Another corpse flies forward, hitting the wall with a sickening thud.
She flies down the corridor, which open into another spectacular chamber. In the center of the dim golden room, a lone man is engaged with 2 Orc-Warriors. He weilds both a wickedly sharp sword, with a blackened sickle shaped blade, and a short Mace. Both drip with the blood of the Orc invaders.
"Sister Mia!" he calls over his shoulder. "Get the relic!"
He couldn;t be referring to the altar in the room; The relic had already been taken. About 3 yards to the left, a small golden door reflected in the pale light. On the door were 5 strange dials, each wioth two symbols. One was a sun, the other, a cresecent moon.
But how to...
"Use the dials!" He shouted. Debris began to fall from the ceiling, blotting out his words. "...three days...starting...this hour."
Mia could still rescue the last relic; It was only a few feet behind these doors.
Re: Finding Faith!lozchicApril 15 2007, 17:13:19 UTC
Mia panicked as the debris fell down from the ceiling. What am I to do? Three days.... what could that mean? Mia quickly rushed to the door and began to gaze at it. These dials.... each has either the sun or the moon....I wonder if they represent the time of day to night.....or the time of the crescent moon. If that's true then that means... With this, Mia quickly started to turn the dials.
Mia turns the dials in the following order: First Dial: Sun Second Dial: Sun Third Dial: Sun Fourth Dial: Moon Fifth Dial: Moon
As soon as Mia finished turning the last dial, she began to patiently wait for something to happen. Oh Great Lukaai, I hope I did this right.

A rumbling noise emantes from the wall. Mia steps back; to her horror, three massive bolts suddenly fly forward from the wall, sealing the door off from any access.
Father Raiz hammers his burly opponent with his Mace, sending a mass of blood exploding from its green ears, then hurries to Mia's side.
"No...Now we'll never get the relic in time." He looks doubtfully at Mia, who turns a bright red under his paternal gaze. "Come child, it is time we leave. Pray that Lukaai spares this room when the church collapses."
The two hurry out fo the golden chamber, into the near pitch blackness of the hallway. Father Raiz puts his hands together, in the form of a seal, and cries, "Allumnos!"
A small cluster of torches- blessed with divine energy- immediatly burst into light. Raiz takes one, and staring between his two weapons, drops the Mace in favor of his twisted blade. The two move forward, quickly doging debris and fallen Orc corpses. They are within 20 feet of the entryway. Raiz crawls under a pile fo fallen timbers, and offers Mia his rough, war-torn hand.
Suddenly, A deafening boom sounds overhead. Raiz and Mia stare, with wide eyes, fixed in despair, towards the nearby exit. The ceiling of the church groans, and then begins to collapse. Heavy stone masonry hails on the church's interior.
There may be enough time to make it out of the church. If not...the only other way out is...The Catacombs!
The Catacombs of Basten run far and deep beneath the church's exterior. Several tunnels extend all the way towards Ryu-o Temple, a nature shrine in the south. But the catacombs are dark, and dangerous; They bustle with the tormented souls of the dead, put into never-ending exile by the Church's Coalition of Light.
Either choice presents danger, and even death. Time is still running out...

Mia began to wiggle her wings nervously, as she thought of the best possible solution for their dire situation. If only I turned the dials the right way on the door, we may not be in this situation. Mia gave a deep sigh. We may or may not have enough time to flee the church, and the catacombs might be our only way of escaping. But, at the same time, the catacombs are filled with vile and evil beasts. Only the most trained Priests go in the catacombs, and even then the chance of their survival is slime. A tear began to flow down the young Draconis' eye at the thought of going to the catacombs, the gentle yet strong, Father Raiz looked deep into her eyes and gave Mia a reassuring look, as if to say, "It is ok, I believe you will make the right decision." Mia began to smile, I can't give up just yet, I need to think of all the possibilities......I wish Dante and Moer was by my side, especially Dante. He would have come up with a plan for a situation like this.....Wait, I think it should be best to try to regroup with my friends. I'm certain they would know a better course of action. And the only way to do that is to try to leave the church. Mia looks at Father Raiz and smiles deeply at him. "We can't give up, just yet. I believe we will be able to leave here safely. For the Great Lukaai will ensure our safety." And with that, the young Draconis followed Father Raiz as they try to rush out of the church safely.

Mia attempts to Flee.
(Dexterity) 2 + (Rolled) 5 = 7
Collapsing church: 7
Flee passes. Mia takes 18 damage from the falling bricks. HP = 27 / 70
Mia and Father Raiz fly from the church's entryway, collapsing in a heap of dirt and debris outside. A massive dust cloud rises from the rubble of the once grand cathedral. Outside, the good sisters let out moaning wails, seeing the fallen symbol of their faith.
Father Raiz stands, still hefting his massive sword. Dust falls from his pale armor, cuts crowd his arms and face, but the man is far from broken. With a kind glance, he pulls Mia to her feet.
"Praise Lukaai!" Sister Eran shrieks, seeig the two brave souls emerge from the rubble.
A crowd of civilians and clergy alike surround the pair, cheering wildly.
"Sister Mia, you have truly proven yourself today. True, the two relics remaining relics were lost..." His speech trails off. Mia stands, holding one of the two relics in her soft, white hands. The humble paladin bows, his face still wide with surprise at Mia's competency. Another cheer tears through the crowd.
The sound of an approaching horse draws Mia's attention away from the crowd.
A gruff, battle torn solider rides the magnificent beast. "Sister Mia," the rugged man breathes, "Your presence is requested immediatly at Town Hall. Cap't Moersho wishes to see you."

Mia smiled at the news, she couldn't help but to feel bubbly inside and dance with her fellow sisters, even after such a tragic event. She was finally going to meet up with her friend Moersho and Dante; and help them with their mission. As she continued to dance around, Mia tripped on a small stone. "Ochies!" she cried, and at that moment she realized the scar on her shoulder from the Orc skirmisher and the bump on her head from the falling bricks. I can't go to Moersho and Dante looking like this, I don't want them to worry about me-chu. So, she folded her hands and said out loud, "May the light of Lukaai heal me!" She was then engulfed in light and her wounds disappeared. She happily brushed herself of any dust and debree on her garments. Then she ran to Father Raiz and said, "I'm off to see Moersho, If anyone needs my aid please tell them I'm at Town Hall. Thankie-chu!" And she gave the good father a big smile and skipped to Town Hall as her wings flapped in rhythm with each step she took.

Side-Quest: Finding Faith! Has been completed. Mia recieves 130 XP for saving Father Raiz. She also recieves 1 Feat Point!
Mia quickly sprints past toppled buildings, still smouldering from the Orc Assault. The roof of a nearby building caves in, and Mia leaps backard, startled. Debris lands in the streets and a nearby alleyway. Suddenly a dark form makes its way through the narrow crevice, and out into the fading daylight.
Mia raises her staff, ready for an attack; The being, however, does not move. He looms meanacingly, a wicked scowl on his face.
