I did. I've been practicing for the cooking competition the Wonder Chef asked us to participate in. [Why they decided to send Flynn of all people, the world may never know. Maybe Yuri thought his food would taste so bad that it'd impress the judges... or maybe it's just because he can make things look incredibly delicious when they really aren't.]

[ Y'know, Yuri did mention Flynn's ... unique skills in the kitchen. ]

Wow! I didn't hear about a cooking competition. You must have been working really hard to come up with all of these dishes. [ They certainly looked good enough to eat. What did Yuri mean about Flynn's cooking then? ]

When is it? I'd like to come and lend my support too.

We got most of the recipes from the Wonder Chef himself, but learning them still took a long time. A lot of them are more difficult than they seem. [Going by in-game stats, he probably mastered... two or three so far. Yup. :| ]

It was supposed to be next week, and it's intended to promote goodwill between the Empire and the Guilds. [Again, why Yuri and the others decided to send Flynn when he's, you know, a knight, even though they're supposed to represent the guilds, the world may never know.]

Well the best meals always take a lot of time and care to prepare well.

That's right. And in the end, all of that effort usually pays off. [Cooked food tends to taste a lot better than uncooked... even when it's prepared by someone who fails as much at cooking as Flynn. Sometimes, anyways.]

Ah, no. Master Ioder hasn't picked a representative for the Empire yet, so I'm not sure who I'll be going up against. [Flynn's probably going to end up representing the Empire instead once Ioder asks him to... which makes more sense anyways, since he's not in a guild. Makes you wonder who Yuri and the others will send as his replacement, though...]

Right! And it's always satisfying to see how much people enjoy that hard work too. [ At least Estelle always was pleased by how much they enjoyed the cooking. ]

Oh! So the competition is going to be one against one, and not a large group. Hmm... I wonder who they'll send then...

[ Raven? Nah. And it certainly couldn't be Alexei. Maybe Sodia...? It did make more sense for Flynn to represent the Empire, and if -that- were the case, then the options for people to represent the Guild was expanded a bit more. Hrm. Everyone in Brave Vesperia could cook, and then there were all those other guilds... ]

It is, isn't it? [Even though his food tastes pretty bad, he still enjoys cooking a lot. And that probably shows.]

Yes. One person represents the Empire, and another represents the guilds. The Empire's representative is chosen by Master Ioder, while the representative of the Guilds is chosen by the Wonder Chef himself.

[...Mun likes the thought of Ioder picking Raven or Sodia as the Empire's representative. Although I have a feeling that the latter might lose on purpose if she's going up against Flynn... :| ]

[ Aaah maybe Wonder Chef picked someone from Brave Vesperia, and they didn't want to do it so they sent Fly-- wait, no, he's not in the guild, so that made even less sense. ] Hrmm.. How many dishes are you supposed to present for the competition? Is it, one dish per meal? Like, appetizers, main course, and a dessert, plus drinks?

[ Estelle of course was more than used to such extravagant feasts, but at the same time, the more humble dishes she'd grown accustomed to were nice too. Even if she did try to introduce fancy dishes to the group. It's not potato soup guys. *cry* ]

[ Sodia would have been great also, but just as unlikely for throwing the competition, alas. Maybe it *will* be Raven after all. ]

As far as I know, the competition is divided into three dishes: an appetizer, a main course and a dessert, and we're supposed to prepare one of each for all five of the judges. The dishes are then judged based on flavor, arrangement and the overall composition. Whoever manages to score the highest in the majority of the categories will be declared the winner. [At least, that's what he's been told so far.

Alternatively, how about Leblanc? It'd be fun to see him cook. Or Witcher, maybe... although I have a feeling that Witcher wouldn't be much better at cooking than Rita. Hmm...]

[ Estellise listened with rapt attention to the explanation, smiling the entire while. Another glance at the table with the food spread out, hmming. ]

If you prepare your meals at the competition as well as you have here, Flynn, I'm sure you'll win! You don't know who the judges are going to be yet, right?
