Since I know a lot of us frequent this area I thought I'd post it here. Please feel free to repost any of this.  This message went out on the Harvard Employees mailing list this afternoon:

On Sunday, September 14, 2008, a female undergraduate Boston University student reported to the Harvard University Police Department that she was the victim of an unarmed robbery while walking down Garden Street at approximately 9:15 PM. The victim while traveling from Currier House to the Harvard Square MBTA station was struck from behind by an unknown individual.  The victim could not definitively state where the incident occurred. After being struck the victim fell to the ground. The victim did not witness who attacked her and did not hear anything, as she was listening to music. The suspect fled the area after taking the victim’s iPod, digital camera, cash, and a wallet. The victim was not seriously injured and declined medical attention.

This advisory is based on information received from the Cambridge Police Department on 9/11/08.

On Wednesday, September 10, 2008, a male student reported to the Cambridge Police Department that he was the victim of an unarmed robbery in the Cambridge Commons at approximately 9 PM. While traveling through the park, the victim was struck from behind by an unknown individual. The victim turned around in an attempt to defend himself and was struck several times by three additional unidentified males resulting in a bruised and swollen lip and two bumps on his forehead. The victim was knocked to the ground and the four suspects fled the area with the victim’s gym bag containing various personal items including a cell phone, iPod, and credit card.

The victim was unable to provide a detailed description of the suspects.
