Closing time...
So, I'm unemployed as of midnight this morning. Terminated over something painfully, ridiculously stupid.
The story is long, and not even worth re-telling yet again; the gist being that I made a single typo of a single hyphen in a single command that someone /else/ read off to me, and it snowballed out of control.
Going to be filing for unemployment, updating my resume, then taking about a week off (minus shotgunning resumes around) to try to get the voice in the back of my head to stop screaming. Get to face being homeless in the dead of winter. All for forgetting a hyphen. Going from a job I loved to total unemployment, all because of one fucking hyphen.
Just have to hold onto the belief that things will get better.
And that said, just got a call from a coworker. Boss' boss wants to call me in for a meeting, discuss the termination. So now it's time for likely false hope that I'll get rehired. Damn if I didn't love working there though... so here's hoping. :)
