I was chatting with my girlfriend at work. She was getting frustrated with my responses and I wasn't sure why. There were two reasons for this miscommunication. One, what she meant was not what she was typing out over chat. Two, I work as a computer programmer and while at work, my brain works very differently.
Why do I mention this? Because I found a hilarious example that could very well be an exchange between me and my girlfriend. It goes a long way to explaining the mind of a computer programmer.

A woman asks her programmer husband to go shopping.
woman: Dear, please go to the grocery store to buy some bread, and, if they have eggs, buy six.
man: OK
The man comes home with six loafs of bread. The wife is dumbfounded.
woman: Why did you buy six loafs of bread?
man: They had eggs.
