I think I blinked and three weeks went by.
Three weeks ago I was looking forward to two nice long weeks of complete aloneness in my office, followed up by a short week that would end with my wife and I winging our way east to spend a long weekend amidst friends and matrimonial festivities.
Suddenly I find myself sitting here, it's Friday following it all, and I'm wondering: "Where did the time go?"
I think time speeds up as we get older. At least our perception of it does. Somewhere back in that microsecond of three weeks, I celebrated another birthday. Alone, mostly. Spent the two days prior in a fight with my wife. Whee. Oh well, I'm not one to make a big deal out of my own birthday anyways. I have a friend who, in my opinion, has hit the nail on the head. On his birthday, he buys his mother a card and takes her out to dinner. "After all," he says, "she did all the hard work, why should I celebrate?" There's wisdom in that that I believe our society could learn from.
It's Friday morning, why am I feeling preachy? Gak.
