Book 01: Lightspeed Magazine, January 2014 edited by John Joseph Adams, isbn: none, online/ebook, Lightspeed, 222 pages, $3.99

Premise: Lightspeed Magazine includes 4 science fiction stories (2 new, 2 reprint) and 4 fantasy stories (2 new, w reprint) each month, along with author and artist interviews. The ebook edition, which I proofread a few weeks before release, also includes an exclusive novella and book excerpts.  Since Goodreads.com counts issues of Lightspeed towards "books read," I'm counting them as books here on LJ and in my database.

My Rating: four stars out of five, as usual.

My Thoughts: Another strong issue. M. Rickert's "The Chambered Fruit," Zhao Haihong's "Exuviation" and Rosamund Hodge's "Apotheosis" were standouts for me this time, while I find myself growing less interested in Matthew Hughes' 'Erm Kaslo' stories.

Individual story reviews can be found over on 365365shortstories throughout the first part of this month.
