First of all, whoever it was that decided to put that big sign on the highway saying "NOW ENTERING EASTERN TIME ZONE," thank you. I've crossed timezones by car before and this is the first time I've seen a highway sign announcing it. Very cool.
The decision to stick to Plan A, which was stay in Nashville last night and drive to Atlanta this morning, was the right one. I'm so glad I didn't panic myself into checking out and driving here in the rain last night. By the time I left the Nashville hotel around noon today the precipitation was done, the skies were slightly overcast, the temperature slightly chilly, and the roads were clear of snow. Even cleaning the car off in the parking lot went quickly.
I finished the last cd of SMALL FAVOR in the first half-hour of the drive and then listened to the first 3.5 cds of Bill Willingham's PETER & MAX for the rest of the trip.
Setting up the meeting room went smoothly as well. I did the hotel a favor by canceling one of the two guest room reservations somehow made in my name (I really only need one room...) and then did their banquet staff another favor by telling them I really didn't need the staging (which helped them accommodate one of the other groups here tomorrow who also needed staging). Hopefully, this will translate into cookies tomorrow afternoon. *grin*
Dinner and an elementary school play in Roswell tomorrow night with college friend Andrea and her family (son Louis is in the show). Dinner plans for Friday with friend Bill are also still in the offing.
Goodreads was telling me that THE WAY OF THE WIZARD only has 385 and that I was 85% done with the book. Noticing that my bookmark didn't really seem to be 85% towards the back cover, I checked the last page and saw that there are in fact 477 pages. I mentioned this in a Tweet that included John Joseph Adams' name and he took whatever steps he needed to to fix it. So now I'm only 62% done!
