The group here in Dallas continues the trend of nice people with good questions and no real overwhelming personality quirks. In fact, the timing this class is supposed to have is finally right. After struggling to not run overtime in the past two cities, everything clicked into place today, and I'm sure tomorrow will go just as well.
After the class, I broke down and went back to the Half-Price Books across the street. I did not buy the book I thought I'd buy, a 1960s GREEN HORNET novel. Instead, I ended up with three of Rick Riordan's Tres Navarre mysteries, three of Michael Nava's Henry Rios mysteries, and three of Stephen Lawhead's Pendragon books. Seemed like a theme up to that point. Then I found James Kahn's WORLD ENOUGH, AND TIME which I know I started reading in high school and never finished, and I also found Kevin J. Anderson's CAPTAIN NEMO: THE FANTASTIC HISTORY OF A DARK GENIUS. Even though it doesn't really fit with the majority of Wold-Newton fiction, I couldn't resist grabbing it to see just what Anderson came up with.
Over dinner (before either bookstore), I started reading K.M. Soehnlein's ROBIN AND RUBY, the sequel (I'd say long-awaited, but really, I thought the original novel was perfect as was and didn't really need a sequel) to his THE WORLD OF NORMAL BOYS, which is easily one of my favorite novels of all time.
Yeah, I'm reading more and still haven't posted the four book reviews and 10 story reviews I've been talking about for a week.
