'Twould seem, if my eyes do not deceive me, that I have not posted here at all since Weds, and even those posts were book-related and not of the 'where I am, where I've been' sort.

I have not yet transferred my pictures from the last trip over to the laptop, so you will all have to wait a while longer to see Burgess and Meredith, the traveling penguins, hanging out at the Camden SC Colonial village site.  Camden was a quaint little slice of small-town-ness. Several people at the company I was teaching for referred to "downtown ... you know, the intersection of Broad and DeKalb."  The weather was great throughout that part of my trip.

Previous to visiting Camden, I spent the weekend in Monroe NC with old high school friends and a great time was had by all. I can't remember if I blogged about it or not, so there you go.

When I got my mail yesterday, the first of my birthday presents had arrived. Now, infinityltd had warned me it'd be a heavy box, and also that I could open it or not as I willed. I was going to only open the box but leave the present wrapped ... only to discover that the present was not wrapped as it should have been!  So, about two weeks early, I can say my first birthday present for this year is the slip-cased volumes 1 and 2 of THE COMPLETELY MAD DON MARTIN. Which guarantees, when I open it, that I'll be laughing hysterically. Classic MAD magazine! This is a book that will NOT be traveling with me this coming week.

Tomorrow, the three copies of Firflake that people ordered directly from me go out in the mail. I'm also having lunch with my friends the Werders, whose younger son has become a Harry Dresden junkie to rival, if not surpass, yours truly.

Sunday, I fly to Chicago for another 1.5 weeks of work. I won't actually be IN Chicago this time, or even as close as the airport. I'm teaching for a company located down near Oregon IL. So when I fly in Sunday, I'm grabbing a rental and swinging through Lake Forest for a movie (INCEPTION?) and dinner with my friend Brian Barker and his dad.  After two days in Oregon IL, I'll be flying on to Nashville and Memphis.
