For some reason, even though they were no longer recording when I became a fan, my first favorite band was Jay Black and the Americans. Probably because I was about 12 years old when my family went to a concert at Dick Clark's Westchester Theatre and saw a 50s-60s revival show, and Jay came out wearing a shirt with Mickey Mouse giving the finger and that really made an impression on me.
