They didn’t understand. Edmund had been saved, but the price to be paid would be great. What had happened in the tent? Why were Aslan’s gentle eyes now heavy with sorrow? Lucy wondered, but dared not ask, what Aslan and the witch had meant about the Deep Magic.
The queen had renounced her claim, so it was a time to rejoice! Yet Lucy sensed the troubled thoughts behind Aslan’s smiles. Soon, she would see why the witch had spared Edmund. Soon, Lucy would see Aslan’s blood spilled for her brother.
Yes, soon, everyone would see the power of his blood.
