This is simply fantastic, GamgeeFest, and such a delight to read! I liked how you portrayed each of the first three birthdays of Frodo's since he left as very different from one another.

“I hope Peri’s been burped,” Merry said as his father bounced the bairn again. Peri’s peals of laughter filled the air with merriment.

“We may be old, dear, but we remember the basics,” Esme assured him.

ROTFL!!

“Don’t you listen to him son,” Sara said to Pippin. “We have to take care of our namesakes.”

Wow, that line just hit me--Frodo will never be able to care for his namesake and that makes me sad.

“When do I get a brother, Daddy?” Freddy asked.

“When your mother makes one,” Folco answered.

LOL! Hey, it's an honest answer to a certain extent.

Ahh, the 'Rules of Address' make a return.

What a delightful party in honor of Frodo; it was nice to see his dearest friends still raising their glasses in toast to him (were they drinking the Old Winyards?). Frodo would indeed be proud to see the gentlehobbits and working class getting along so nicely. He would be proud of all the little one's born since the War. He'd be proud to see how tall the Mallorn has grown. Most of all, he'd be proud of Sam. (how very important for both the Thain and Master to observe Sam's diplomatic qualities as well).

Very well done!

p.s. I'm assuming those hair clips Sam found in the mathom room for Elanor were Belladonna's ... and not Bilbo's! LOL!

Thank you so much! It was a delight to write.

Frodo will never know his namesake, but he was gifted with a vision of Sam's kids before he left, which is more than he would have had otherwise.

Folco may not be the sharpest tool in the kit, but he knows how to answer those bothersome life questions! LOL

Those Rules rather betrayed Sam here, but Merry is right. (And I have a feeling Sam would have thought of it long before this, being the propriety-minded hobbit that he is.)

Well, the last of the Old Winnyards were drunk just before the Quest began, at Frodo's birthday party. So this was just regular wine, probably not even 1420 since Sam wouldn't have foreseen the need to save any.

Frodo would be very happy to know that his friends are carrying on without him, and humbled to know that they will continue to honor him for as long as they live. The Thain and Master, I'm sure, are important voices when it comes time to elect a new mayor. The seed is planted, so to speak, for Sam to take over in a few years.

hehehehe Belladonna's indeed. Or even could be leftover gifts that Bilbo probably kept stocked in the smial for when company (one of his various 'nieces'/younger cousins) dropped by for a visit. ;)
