The hubby and I have pretty busy at work lately and greatly enjoyed our time in Ely last weekend taking pictures of wild flowers.  The Lady Slippers were budding but not blooming.  So on Saturday we decided to drive to Ely for the day.  We left Saturday morning at 6:30 a.m. and arrived in Ely about 12:30 p.m.  We made a couple of stops for Root Beer and T-shirts.  Then we were off on the trek to get the elusive pictures of Lady Slippers. They are simply the most amazing flowers to actually look at up close.  We got some great photos.

We also tried to stalk a moose in the woods.  It's pretty hard.  We saw him crossing the road and watched him walk into the woods.  He drove along beside him until he turned further into the woods.  Then we went and parked the truck and I went back to where we last saw him.  I went in about 50 yards and there he was, standing in a little swampy bog.  He turned and walked off; all I could see was his legs moving through the woods.  It was actually fun trying to track a moose through the woods.

The New Car

We LOVE the new car!  Unfortunately we've had a slight mishap with the car.  We were merging onto Highway 649 off of University Avenue in Fridley; we hit the biggest pothole I have ever seen.  Needless to say, the tire blew and it bent the rim.  I was so mad.  It cost us $1,000 to get a new tire, new rim and have the whole car re-aligned.  That's how big the pothole was.

I called MNDot to put in a claim; they wanted to know how old the car was; my response "three weeks old"; their response "not how long you've had the car, how old is the car?"  My response "three weeks old."  Then they wanted our license plat number; "well, I don't know, the car is only three weeks old and we haven't gotten the plates yet."  Now they want a copy of the title to the car; "well, I'll give it to you just as soon as we receive it.  We've only had the car for five weeks."  Silence on the other end of the line.  I'm hoping they will reimburse us; then I won't have to have my insurance company pay for the repairs.
