About five years ago we bought an RCA HD widescreen TV. A couple of weeks ago my VCR died. Well this was the opportunity to buy the DVD/VCR combo which had DVD recording capabilities. The player is high definition and widescreen format. I get it all hooked up, put in a DVD and the picture won't go to widescreen. I spent two hours changing the cables, changing the settings and then I finally called LG. It turns out that my TV is outdated already. If I want my TV to show my movies in widescreen format, I have to buy a new TV. I don't think so. I paid a lot of money for this TV and I am not going to buy a new TV for quite a while. How did we solve the problem? Simple, you change the TV format to widescreen. You just have to remember to change it back after you are done watching movies otherwise everything is distorted.
Otherwise the player works great. I also have the capability of putting my memory cards from my digital cameras directly into the DVD player and having it record directly to the DVD. How awesome is that!?
The other purchase for the TV was the Cinnemate from Bose. Our house really rocks now when we watch movies. The sound is fantastic! We have noticed that you hear things that you normally wouldn't hear through the TV speakers. At least that works on my antiquated TV.
Now for the other good things. We have our plans set for Ely. We are going February 1 through the 4th. We have confirmed and sent in our deposit for the photographic excursion. The hubby is really excited. He got his book out to go over everything on his camera. He's just like a little kid. Of course, now we have to get another lens for him. I told him he could get one with his bonus.
Tonight we are going to the Sportsman's Warehouse to look at walking sticks that are disguised as a mono-pod for cameras. If we can't find them there, then we will be checking REI. The hubby also decided that he needs a new tripod. I've been trying to buy him one for about three years but he just now decided that he has to have a new one. So we will also be looking at new tripods. Some days he's just like a little kid.
