Nine years ago, just before Thanksgiving, I was heading to Fort Walton Beach, having been hired by Boeing to work for the company. At that point, it was a good thing for me, having been unemployed and all that. And life was good for a while, but eventually the battles with manglement and putting up with stupidity wore me down...
Fast foward to last year. Just after Thanksgiving, I get an offer to take a new position working in Houston with the Space Exploration group. Which I accepted, and moved to Texas in early January. Since that time, I have enjoyed my job once again, and unlike previously, don't have to deal with serious bouts of mismanagement. The bonus is that I'm around folks who speak to an extent the same language as myself, talking space missions and projects, among other things. A vast change in atmosphere and a vast change in attitude.
So here I am, on this Thanksgiving enjoying a quiet day by myself, but glad that I've had this opportunity for change and took it.
