I have been getting sick every other week. Mind you, not like, disabling sick. Worse, it's just annoying sick. Like currently my sinuses are really stuffed up. And a moderate annoying headache. So basically like, when I sit down, I can't breathe well. Not to mention not being able to taste food because of it. That's really annoying to be sure. It's all because of this shitty room without heating. And my broken heater. I'm beginning to become annoyed with this house again.
Anyway, I can only breathe through one nostril right now, it's a lovely thought I know.
We had a UFC party of sorts last night. Pizza was had. Sodas were drink. Randy Couture was awesome. A 45 year old coming out of retirement to beat a 6'8 gargantuan for the world title is a pretty good storyline. Even if Tim Sylvia sucks ass. It's still impressive to overcome that kind of reach. Anyway. Yeah. Randy Couture is awesome.
I did Judo of course. We had a really lengthy pre-training exercise regiment. It was completely exhausting. Highlights included dragging my body the entire length of the floor by my arms and elbows, Bridging escapes from the bottom forward and backwards, some rhythmic throwing drills that made me fall repeatedly, and the most fun, carrying a 240 lbs. man on my back the length of the floor. Even more impressive was this guy carrying me on his back. I hope I have that kind of power when I'm older O_o
Class was fun, I learned a lot of useful ground based stuff, including an awesome choke on a flat opponent. I learned this from a French fellow named Phillip. He's really nice. After I completed the choke he gets on his hands and knees and says "Let me ask you something? What is the difference between effective and efficient?" I'm like...ok, what is he trying to teach me here? "Uh, I'm not sure sensei, what's the difference?" "Oh no, I'm asking you. I hear people use both the words, but I do not know the difference!" I felt pretty stupid. I basically told him they pretty much mean the same thing. Which I believe is true. If you happen to have a good description of the differences let me know, and I'll pass it on to Phillip.
Lastly, I am testing for my white/yellow belt on Tuesday. So wish me luck. Or don't. It doesn't matter, I don't think it's going to be very difficult. As he pretty much tested me yesterday apparently and I did ok :-)
From what I gather I need to know (note, this is for my own educational purposes, so don't worry about reading.)
1. De-ashi barai - forward foot sweep
2. Sasae-Tsurikomi Ashi - Supporting Foot Lift-Pull Throw
3. Seoi-Nage - Shoulder Throw
4. Ouchi Gari - Large Inner Reap
5. Osoto Gari - Large Outer Reap
6. O Goshi - Large Hip Throw
Otherwise, I know all the basic hold downs easy. Kesa Gatame, Kata Gatame, Tate-Shiho Gatame, Kami-Shiho Gatame, and Yoko Shiho Gatame. I believe he also said we need to know a few basic submissions which I do. I might have trouble if he goes for a more obscure armbar or something, but I think I'll be alright.
Ok, breathing is getting irritating, maybe some exercise or something will remedy this.
