That subject has no meaning.
I have sent off that stupid entrance exam thingy. Thanks to everyone who commented on it for me. It's appreciated. OH WAIT! NO ONE COMMENTED ON IT! You bunch of jerks!
Nah, I'm just kidding. You're all alright. I wouldn't have done it if I didn't have to myself...
Uh, shit, it's 4 AM in the morning. I am having trouble sleeping because it feels like I have bruises on my vertebrae. I have a couple ideas of how this happened, and all of them involve judo.
Hey, I haven't talked about that lately. I guess I've come to realize that rambling about techniques in here isn't going to impress too many. But hey, I'm feeling chatty so why don't I tell you about my bruised vertebrae GET.
So I imagine it could've been from Saturday. I stayed late after class working on breakfalls. So you know, falling directly on your back, and on your shoulders while flipping and on your sides...I imagine that will add up.
I think the more likely reason is from Tuesday. We did extended ground work which is fine by me because I love that stuff. I rolled with a black belt and did rather well. We went for about 5 minutes, I got a few reversals off, tried an armbar or two, a choke or two, eventually he caught me in an armbar. I could tell he was taking it easy but hey, I'll take what accomplishments I can get.
The second guy was a brown belt. I've noticed this guy before because he looks like he's constantly on the verge of death from exhaustion. I don't think I've ever seen him where he wasn't bent over and breathing heavy, looking tired and beat up. He's in great shape though, and he's very good as I'll explain shortly so I dunno what his deal is. Anyway, when we started he pretty much immediately armbarred me. Which I've come to accept. I seem to get armbarred on a nightly basis nowadays. Our second go round I got him in a brief scarf hold (kesa-gatame) which he escaped. After a bit of grappling I ended up with him in my guard (Me on my back, legs wrapped around his waist). From there he tried to get around my legs, or pass guard. Anytime I get someone in my guard I start working my legs up, which so far has led to get things. This time he tried to push my leg over his head but I managed trap one arm and his head between my legs. This is called a Triangle Choke or Sankaku Jime. So I locked my left foot behind my right knee and had him completely trapped in this hold. So I was squeezing and he was turning red but not tapping. I should've switched to an armbar when he gave it to me, but I was pretty determined to choke him out. This was not a great idea because he managed to alleviate some of my pressure with the arm. At this point he grabs onto my gi (now, I am basically hanging from his head by my feet and am on my neck upside down-ish) begins lifting me ever so slowly and eventually I am a ways in the air and he slams me down. It didn't bother me much and actually helped me sink the choke in a bit deeper but somehow the crafty bastard got his head out...perhaps my legs got tired.
Well anyway, once he got out, I was about dead. But time was up so I was mostly saved the embarrassment of being completely out of breath below him.
So yeah, I'm guessing that slam, while not registering much on me initially was probably why my neck/back hurts like it does.
In other great news, my knuckles are callousing over! No more cuts! I'm getting better. overall. Training again tomorrow night. I'd look more forward to it if parts of my anatomy didn't hurt so much.
Speaking of, I'll rest them. This has been your rambling judo post for the day.
