So I went to the 'Ard Boys semifinals last weekend, which is why I haven't updated in so long (most of my me-time is limited to the weekend these days, and Green Bay is a helluva drive). I did really well considering that I've only been playing for about a year, and I took 8th out of 28 people. Adric got 21st and the other person from our store took 24th. I was also the only woman!
I'm particularly proud of my second match, which I was sure would end with me getting wiped off the board, but I managed to make it only a minor loss instead of a massacre. I'm pretty terrible at chess, but I'm not a bad strategist.
My first game. I kicked butt. My opponent was really surprised to find out that I was the person he'd be playing against.
The second game. My expression pretty well sums up how I feel about all those guys in the middle of the board (my opponent's army)
Yesterday I went shopping, and I took this photo to send to my mom so that she could feel like she was shopping with me. Needless to say, I have jumped onto the turtleneck bandwagon, and with no regrets!
