I was kind of disappointed that there weren't any X-Men: First Class action figures

Argh, my plants have mites. I have some thoughts on how to get rid of them, but they all involve the use of a spray bottle, which I don't have, and I leave for California early tomorrow morning. :P Well, maybe I will try to pick one up before I go.

So it's supposed to get up to 99°F today, with a heat index of 110°F/43°C. Wisconsin, ladies and gentlemen! Where you freeze your face off in the winter, and melt into a puddle of goo in the summer. Needless to say I've been slacking a tiny bit on my running, because I'm waking up and it's only 75°/23° but then the humidity is at 89%. I went running under similar conditions on Monday (because it's been like this all week) and just about drowned. Still! I can go a little farther, I can do a couple more sit-ups and the like, and once I get to California it should be nice and cool and, most importantly, dry. Yes, that's right. California is colder than Wisconsin.

And then there will be SDCC! \o/ I've been looking up places to go see and there are soooo many things I'd like to do that aren't on Friday, but I'm still so excited and I really need to remember to pick up batteries because ever since that episode of Doctor Who I have been super self-conscious about using my phone to take photos. Batteries and spray bottle. Oh, and also I should pack clothing at some point.

I'm going to try and update Utopia one last time before tomorrow morning, as I have about five pages ready to go and after this I get to write ~sexy scenes~, y'know, finally, since this thing is now 26,000 words long, a.k.a. the longest thing I have ever written, and so far the raunchiest thing that has happened was some leg-touching. But but but! I got to make literary allusions! :D Finally, all these books I've read are serving a purpose. Even if it is remarkably hard to think of pre-1964 novels that Erik might ever read, that aren't, y'know, dystopian stories. I originally left my allusions vague but I suspected that it would go over the heads of roughly 95% of the FF.N crowd, so I showed a little mercy. It might still go over a lot of their heads, but eh.

For some reason I have a lot of fruit flies in my apartment right now. I don't know why; I don't have any fruit. If I were a vampire, fruit would probably be my sunlight. Still, it reminds me of a First Class fanfiction I wanted someone to write, where Charles is actually doing genetics and freaking everyone out with how excited he is over his damned fruit flies, which keep appearing dead in everyone's cups and glasses, and they all try increasingly desperate measures to pry him away from the microscope so that they stop waking up in the middle of the night thinking about sex combs and wild types. If I ever finish writing Utopia and still have energy for another First Class fic, I think I will squeeze that one in there, because I feel as if my writing has been suffering from a distinct lack of crack.

P.S. you need to look at this post because if you are of a certain age (which I believe we all are), you will have a gigglefit.

wisconsin is basically a roller coaster, fanfic, california, dystopias are kind of my thing alright?, weather, you got your drosophila in my c. elegans, literary allusions, sdcc, x-men, suffering from a distinct lack of crack, worst housekeeper ever
