Where hearts were entertained in June

Well, I spent a bunch of time with my mom - she goes back to California tomorrow morning. A lot of what we ended up doing was boring, including watching my dad race his go-cart (four hours of my life I won't get back), but at least he won, I guess. Also it turns out that the Milwaukee Zoo closes at 4:30 on a Saturday, so, um, well. We spent the money for three adult tickets and only got to see about half of it before oh, hey, the concessions guy is scooping all the popcorn into a trash bin, and wait, wasn't this door unlocked before?

BUT! We watched Doctor Who! It's been archiving on my parent's DVR, and I haven't gotten to watch it before since I don't live there and my dad's always sitting in front of the TV anyway, so we started the new season and wow. It really makes RTD's series look like a calm walk in the park! Well, except for the third episode, the pirate one; that was a bit boring through the beginning, I dunno. The fourth one, though, that Neil Gaiman wrote? Wow. And I thought I loved the man before!

I had to take a break from writing Utopia yesterday because I suddenly had no idea what the next scene was. I have all this time to cover between this and the next interesting plot point, and I didn't know how to write all that and keep it interesting, so I stepped back to watch some of the last season of Doctor Who and draw.

I figured out what to do about all that time in between scenes! Skip it. Simple.

Also I am stocked up on Mike's Hard again, so that's nice for writing, and I got some lovely, thoughtful reviews of Utopia (which I am finally, after all this time, not typoing constantly) on FF.N today, which is a relief because people yesterday were weirdly silent after my update. I do need more Brotherhood of Mutants characters, however, and while someone on FF.N suggested I watch the previous movies, I need them to be the right age so that's not really an option.

So. F-list. Are there Brotherhood characters who would be adults in 1967 whom I could use? I mean I can make them up too, it's fine, but my idea of a mutation is usually like, "oh, how is this RNA being spliced and translated?" so eh. You'll probably end up reading about, like, Alligator-Scute-Man and Octopus-Skin-Woman, et cetera.

ETA: Okay, I know this alcohol is affecting me, because I just put a semi-colon in a place where it could only be poor judgement to place a semi-colon. DRINKING IT ANYWAY.

ETA2: Oh! By the way. Just wanted to mention a dream I had the other night, where someone I knew had the flu so I offered to cure them using magic. I made this really badass potion a la the Dresden Files and then we both ended up in the hospital for a month. But you know what? By the end of it all, they didn't have the flu. How's that for performance?

dreams, x-men, family, writing, fanfic, i am not becoming an alcoholic
