Bwahaha! My roomful-of-books dream draws closer. >D I just got two more books: Death by Black Hole, and Other Cosmic Quandaries and Warped Passages: Unravelling the Mysteries of the Universe's Hidden Dimensions. I may have a minor book addiction, but I am happy (although somewhat perplexed) to be able to say that my books no longer fit nicely onto my two bookshelves.

Got to see the gameplay of RE5 yesterday; the fact that it's co-op seems a little inconvenient in that you're either stuck with an AI as a partner who, while far more useful than Ashley, still lacks the intuitive leaps of a human partner; or some amount of stress in setting it up to play with another player online. Another notable thing lacking in this edition that was present in RE4 is that, rather than having multiple save slots, you can only have one game going at a time and starting over does not seem to be an option.

However, once you work those things out and get it set up so that you're playing with a reasonably skilled buddy, it looks to be a pretty fun, edgy game, and the graphics look good. Some of the monsters are damn creepy, too, like the writhing tentacle monster that resembled nothing less than the demons from Princess Mononoke,* and the split-head dogs--which included a couple of zombified african painted dogs, which is just cool!

Also, since it was J and Zack and they'd played RE4 roughly a gajillion times, they decided that this meant they should play RE5 on "veteran." Needless to say I saw them get killed many, many times.

J did not previously have an Xbox Live account, and so got one on a free one-month trial which, honestly, how could you say no to, especially if it's to play RE5? The gamer tag of "J"** being, understandably, taken already, he thus had to find a new one, and while the avatars for the Xbox Live manage to somehow be both much more detailed and far less realistic than those for the Wii (they look kind of convincingly like people, but honestly, nobody on Xbox Live would stand and move like that), the name randomizer is genius, and so that's how J ended up with the gamer tag of IckyBasilisk.

I was inspired to re-listen to Year Zero today, and I think I finally had enough of a break from it so that I can enjoy it again.

*I didn't know this until I looked up Princess Mononoke in a vain attempt to see if there was a name for those freaky god-turned-demons, but apparently Neil Gaiman is responsible for the English dub, which makes that movie even cooler, and reinforces the severed-head-fetish theory.

**I have not previously mentioned this, but when I say "J" I mean literally, that's what we call him; not Jay or something else that it's short for that I don't feel like typing out. Even his name tag for the bookstore just says "J."
