Oh, and also, any time people talk about religious myths as if they were absolutely real, it kind of startles me. I keep forgetting that people actually believe in religion. This was the case in Adolescent Lit Monday when we were talking about the historic causes for anti-Semitism, and I was like "I don't know much about religion but wasn't there some thing that went on between the Christians and the Jews?" and some other guy started talking about how they killed Jesus and all that. Also, at one point I brought up the fact that even today there are people who deny that the Holocaust happened, and someone was like "But how can someone deny that?" and I was like "Well, people can deny that evolution happened," at which point I observed several people keep uncomfortable science.
Okay, dudes, I'm okay with you practicing your religion so long as you keep your religion-specific ideals out of laws, and don't attempt to force your ideas onto me, but creationism is just dumb. Dumb, dumb, dumb. My religious acceptance pretty much stops at willful ignorance, if you're going to try and be part of this society.
