Birdie!

Feb 20, 2008 15:26

Spotted a new kind of birdie at the feeders over the weekend: a pair of American Goldfinches in their winter plumage, seen here, were horking down the thistle seed in the bag I hung on the telephone wire. Also hanging thereon is the suet feeder, and though I see some beak-marks on it, I've no idea who's been sampling it. Should be chickadees or perhaps a red-shafted flicker.

Also, this last Saturday, I actually got some serious cleaning done. With the help of ADDerall and nesting-instinct hormones (and the B-12? dunno), I finally cleared out the piles and piles of catalogs and magazines that had accumulated on both sides of the bed, tossed everything either in the trash or on the bed, and vacuumed the floor. I bet those areas of the floor haven't felt a vacuum brush on them for three years. I even found some of the maggot cases from when that bird rotted in my bedroom, unbeknownst to me.

I then took the pages from two gardening calendars and hung them on the walls, which have been mostly bare up until now.

Because I am susceptible to the placebo effect, I can't say for sure whether the B-12 supplements are working or not, but they do seem to be. For now. Give it a few more weeks and who knows.

birds, health
