I'm a few days late doing my New Year's cleaning. The last few days, I wasn't very motivated to do anything (probably the overexcitement from the holidays), but since today is my last day before work begins again, I feel motivated to do something.
For the last month, one of my main goals was to go through my clothing and discard stuff that I don't need, don't wear, etc. When I moved early last year, I went through and donated a lot of clothing (should have really gotten a receipt), and when I was organizing the new house, I put aside more clothes to donate. Unfortunately that last batch is still sitting in my closet, since there aren't any charity pickups or donation centers in the immediate area (closest is about fifteen miles away).
Today, I decided to consolidate, put away summer clothes that are still in my drawers, and try to get rid of some more clothing. Problem is that I'm a horrible pack rat, and I always think, "maybe I need those..." One reason is that I'll paint the place this year around May, so I need some junky clothing to wear. I was able to get rid of a few sweaters, shorts, and shirts, luckily, so not too bad, but still not great.
One more reason to stay away from the clothing stores this year. I've noticed that men's styles haven't really changed the past few years. When will a t-shirt ever go out of style??
