Considering she was an absurd pseudo-child before, I must say this is a substantial improvement. I seem to recall it being particularly difficult even when I was a chesspiece, you know. [...] The pawns, darling. One can never tell them apart.

it turns out she is. you're right -- it's hard to get attached to the faces of marble chesspieces, isn't it? (unless you're one yourself.)
