April Camp's over, and it's the last of our camps in our guiding life in RGS.
It was so much more than I thought it would be and it's hard to put it in words. (or maybe it's just me (: )
(1) Taking our traditional jumpshots, the same way we did last year.
We're a little older, a little more tired, but with more people and more love.
Laura and Han Jun and Ronald were throwing the thrash when we had this little pocket of time to take photos, and so we ended up counting down to make them run faster.
hanjun and ronald and I had been pushing the trash out to the main garbage bin out along the main road and we were walking quickly back for the next activity when we heard loud chanting, 6! 5! 4! 3! 2! 1! and thinking the whole of guides was waiting for us I let go of the trolley in horror and let it sail off the pavement (not sure who picked it up in the end but) and we all ran for our lives thinking it was fall in. and then the chanting broke into loud laughter while the counting changed direction. 0! 1! 2! 3! 4! and we got a bit confused and we were thinking what is going on? and then when we finally collided safely back with b11atch I turned and saw four cameras and our very impatient juniors standing there looking annoyed at how long they’d had to wait there for us to assemble and we realized they’d waited for us to take the photo
If you're curious about who got the trolley, JWY did. And YinYu sat on the trolley for a ride back.
(2) Kayaking in the sea, somehow continuously bumping into someone else's kayak and Cherine's kayak strangely floating into the opposite directions. And then there was Laura and Chun Hui who, thanks to Ms Lee and Mdm Aliah, ended up in the water much to Ms Lee's joy.
(3) Outdoor cooking with Ronald and Han, with a pit too shallow (whoops) and a fire occasionally too big (because we kept tossing in more coconut husk, which was a pretty bad idea). And somehow it reminds you that we were once the batch that just dreaded firelighting so much and somehow, we realized that we had to make sure our patrols were fed and now we can't believe we'll never have the chance to do it again.
And then of course we cannot forget Mel and Rae-Ann's cookie that tasted like Char Kway Teow which Han made us try and then we gleefully made Hanin (who thought it was our patrol's cookie, which was damned awesome) and Jocie (who will never forgive us) try it. :D
Haha sorry Jocie I'll bake you nicer ones in the future.
(4) Our fake campfire made of logs and a kerosene lamp because of the thunder. And the continuous, spontaneous singing was just (:
(5) Wide Game with Yellow Submarine, and singing the only line of the song we knew, which was "We all Live in a Yellow Submarine, Yellow Submarine, Yellow Submarine".
(6) Lazing around (more like too exhausted to move) on the night of day 2, because we hadn't bathed and we didn't want to move and there was more work to do but we just didn't want to. Sometime later we eventually got up to clear the thrash and needless to say it was dark (it was like, 11+?) and the two of us were pretty scared of going out of the gate because we were after all, in the middle of nowhere in Lim Chu Kang. And then we went back and got ready to shower (and finally got out of our wet shoes) and then going to shower and coming back and lazing around again. When we finally charged our phones and headed to sleep, we found out that Yin Yu's patrol didn't leave enough space for her to sleep without crashing into whoever it was next to her, we went upstairs and pretty much crashed.
(6.5) Waking up in the morning when Alicia threw her cushion at me, and then waking Yin Yu up (cushion throwing didn't work) and going back to sleep. Woke up 5 minutes later to wake her up again, and then I laid down and neither of us were quite willing to get up but we had to, somehow or another.
(7) Waking Norwegian Wood for colours duty and a loud groan came from someone hahaha :D
(8) Complaining about the buses at the camp next door and the people who were boarding so slowly. And establishing that Han and I will probably become road rages in the future because we were getting so annoyed with the bus that just didn't want to move. (:
