Son, I Am Disappoint
Some guy actually just tried this on me.
Dude (heavy accent): Hello this is Meekrosüft regarding your computer.
Me: I'm sorry, WHO? (I actually couldn't understand the word.)
Dude: I am from Kwaanzacy*, working for Meekrosüft, I am calling about your computer.
Me: (Thinking it's a wrong number from some kind of collection agency, because I've been getting lots of those for someone else lately) I'm sorry, I don't recognize that company name, and I own my computer.
Dude: Are you running The Windows?
Me: Uh... yes. (Thinking aw hell, I know this scam. Hang up or troll him? Hmmmm...)
Dude (Gleefully): HELLO YES THIS IS WINDOWS CALLING ABOUT YOUR COMPUTER!
And then this pops in my head:
And all possibility of trolling goes out the window (no pun intended) as I lose it laughing. Dude is confused.
Me: Yeah okay, I know this scam but nice try. *click*
Wish I'd been able to keep from laughing. But for the next few weeks I'll probably be answering my phone "HELLO YES THIS IS WINDOWS."
* Upon further research I'm 99% sure he was saying "Quantum PC", but the dude was heavily accented, mumbling, and talking 500MPH
