At Shibusen, we were expected to gather the souls of serial murderers, those who have already been overtaken by insanity. What we do protects everyone else, people who are incapable of protecting themselves from those... creatures. We're not killing machines, we're all fully capable of moral choices, and we're certainly not brainwashed.
