Chapter 1 A Change in Events
Chapter 2
Jin jumped, at the fact that Kazuki had just yelled in his ear. Manabu jumped for a different reason; Kazuki was in love with Byou. Byou was his, no one else’s.
“Is this what was bothering you, Byou?” Manabu asked, almost in a whisper. Byou just nodded. Manabu glared over at the brunet now sitting up on the couch. His other guitarist had made a grave mistake. Byou was his to keep forever. He walked over to the other guitarist and slapped him.
“You bastard! Why not just tell that to my fucking face?!” Manabu was yelling loudly at his fellow guitarist. Kazuki just sat there, taking what Manabu had to say, he deserved it. He was the one that was in love with the wrong person. He was the one who missed his chance. He was the one who kept it in for so long. He was the one that caused Byou pain, and he deserved everything.
“Mana-kun! Stop!” Jin yelled over Manabu. Kazuki took Jin’s arm as to tell him to stop. The tears that flowed down his face was shining in the light.
“I deserve it, Jin. Let him do what he wants. I deserve it. It was me who caused all of this anyway…” Kazuki’s tears continued to flow. Jin was having a hard time seeing Kazuki like this; normally he’s being all pervy with the other members…
“No you don’t. Manabu, stop it! What does it matter if Kazuki loves Byou? It’s not like he’s in a relationship or anything…” Jin stopped. Is that what’s going on? Is Mana-kun and Byou… together? But he didn’t dare say this out loud.
“Jin, Manabu and I are in a relationship… I just told Kazu-kun yesterday… He called up Mana-chan this morning, and that started the whole fight.” Byou stated flatly. He still couldn’t register everything that was happening. His best friend and his boyfriend were in a fight. But Jin seemed to be another problem; his face was slightly filled with sorrow. “Jin, you ok?” Jin just nodded.
“It’s nothing for you guys to worry about.” How could I ever tell him now? This is all fucked up now…
“Jin, you look worried about something, what’s the matter?” Manabu walked towards the drummer, obviously concerned for the drummer.
“No. It’s nothing, just some management stuff.” Jin forced himself to look away from the guitarist, not quite knowing how to act.
“Well, why cant I know?” Jin just shook his head, still looking away. Manabu’s hand rested on the drummer’s shoulder, causing a slight blush. “I am in the band, ne?” Manabu was showing his anger towards the drummer. While all this was happening, Byou was actually walking over to Kazuki to try to comfort him.
“Byou? What-“ Kazuki said through his tears.
“Just come with me.” Byou said softly. How could Kazuki refuse? Byou led him outside the studio, and up a few flights of stairs to an unoccupied studio room. “Kazuki, you cant tell Mana-san about this.” Kazuki flinched at the lack of respect Byou had towards his own boyfriend. The guitarist’s mouth tried to form words, but were just unable to, like being pulled closed, but being able to flex, with no sound coming out.
Byou started to walk over to Kazuki, for he had walked to the other side of the dark room when they first arrived. Naturally, Kazuki’s heart started to race. Byou was then placing his hands on the guitarist’s shoulders, soon pulling him into an embrace. With this, Kazuki started to silently cry, Byou’s shirt soaking up all of the salty tears. “Shhhh.” Byou’s hand moved in small circles on the guitarist’s back. His hand moved to Kazuki’s neck, to show the vocalist Kazuki’s face. Kazuki acted on his own and pressed his lips to Byou’s that second, fearing that the opportunity would vanish any second.
Byou leaned into the kiss, moaning slightly. His tongue made its way into Kazuki’s mouth easily, and the two tongues danced. They danced and danced and danced. But even though Kazuki was enjoying this, he forced himself to stop.
Finally finding his voice, the guitarist spoke. “B-Byou? Why are you doing this?” Byou looked at his feet.
“I wanted to make you feel better… You were just so sa-“
“But why result to this?”
“I thought it would help…”
“It doesn’t help one bit! It just makes everything hurt even more!” A tear began its journey down Kazuki’s cheek. “Because I know that I cant have you; that Manabu has you, because he has for how long? Four months? What the hell Byou?! I don’t know what-“ Byou placed his finger on the guitarist’s lips.
“Listen.” He whispered softly. “Me and Mana-chan…We’ve been having some hard times lately… We fight a lot more now, in the four months we’ve been together… I…I…” He broke down into tears, making Kazuki’s tears stop. Kazuki took Byou into an embrace, allowing the salty tears to soak his shirt.
“Its gonna work out. If you two are really meant to be, it’ll work out. You will find a way.”
“But that’s not the real problem here…” Byou started, cut off by a small sob. “The real problem is Manabu…”
Manabu was still in the band’s studio room, still trying to get out what was on Jin’s mind. “Jin… What is it?”
“I told you, just management stuff!” Jin’s voice was rising softly. Manabu stopped to think for a moment. He knelt down next to the drummer and softly placed his hand on Jin’s shoulder. This made the drummer look up, and Manabu’s heart almost broke, seeing the leader in tears.
“J-Jin…” Manabu stuttered. He was quick to bring the drummer into his arms to comfort him. “D-don’t cry.” His hand moved in circles on the drummer’s back in his attempt to comfort him.
“Mana-chan…” Jin was whispering now. “Do you want to know the real reason?” Manabu’s hand stopped its movements, and he lessened his grip on the distressed drummer.
“What is it, Jin?” He looked Jin in the eye, and this made the drummer look away.
“Well, I’ve been keeping something from everyone, but don’t tell them, ok?” Manabu just nodded his head. “There-There’s this guy that I’m in love with…” Jin looked up at Manabu to see his reaction, but all he saw was eager eyes, telling him to finish before the guitarist would say a word. “And he is in a relationship. But I’m afraid to tell him my feelings because I don’t want to break the friendship that is between me and him. Do you think that you could help me with this, Manabu?” Jin looked up at the mentioned person and Manabu sighed.
“It would help if I knew his name, Jin.” Jin fought the tears this time, and shook his head.
“I cant tell you his name…” Manabu’s hands moved through the drummer’s hair soothingly.
“C’mon, Jin. You’ve told me this much… I need to know all of it!” Jin broke the soothing embrace, along with the soothing gestures from the guitarist. The drummer walked across the room to the table, and came back with a pencil and a sheet of paper. Manabu smiled, for he had a feeling he was playing a little game with the drummer; he was going to write the name instead of saying it. And that he did. But the guitarist was shocked as he saw three symbols that were so familiar to him: マナブ. His own stage name. Maybe there’s another guy named Manabu… The guitarist didn’t want to face reality; because then Jin kept on writing. 君の名です。。。マナブ、愛してる。(It’s your name… I love you, Manabu) Manabu’s smile has long faded, for he didn’t know how to react to this.
“J-Jin… I-“
“I know… you love Byou…” Jin said that name coldly. But in a way he regretted it. Byou was his friend, his vocalist, part of his band. He saw the slight hurt on Manabu’s face, but in a way, he saw happiness. “I-I’m sorry, Mana-kun.”
“Manabu!” Byou yelled. This made the guitarist look up and see Byou, only he had the tear stains as he did this morning. He instantly lifted himself up and ran out of the room to Byou, who was standing in the hallway.
“Byou, what’s wrong?” His hands entertwined with the vocalist’s own. Byou pulled the own hands back to his sides, breaking the lock with the guitarist’s.
“I have to talk to you.” And he walked down the hallway. Manabu followed silently. They walked out of the building, which required walking down several flights of stairs. Once outside, Byou sat down on one of the benches, Manabu followed as silently as before.
“So what do you wanna talk about?” The black haired guitarist looked into the brunet’s eyes, but Byou couldn’t find it in him to look into Manabu’s eyes at that moment.
“Our fights…” Manabu’s hand tried again to hold the vocalist’s soft own. In response, Byou scooted farther away from the guitarist and cradled his head on his hand. “They have become so much more frequent, almost resorting to everyday… I think that it’s a sign for us to… maybe find someone else.” Manabu’s hands made small fists.
“And how long have you been thinking this?” Manabu dreaded the answer, because he was so unsure.
“Ever since I was at Kazuki’s apartment.” Manabu sighed a sigh of relief. A long silence followed. “Manabu, Kazuki loves me, and I think that I love him too. Ive felt the tension between us turn into a string that was ready to break at any moment. Every fight we had, just made the string thinner and thinner. And finally, with the fight we had with Kazuki, it broke, and you know it.” Manabu nodded in agreement. He got up and went back inside, running up the stairs to the studio room; tripping over his own feet while entering, he grabbed Jin into an embrace.
“It’s time for me to tell you a story now. There was this guy who was in a relationship with someone he thought he loved. After a few months, he began to love someone else, but didn’t want to hurt the other. And now they are apart so he can love whoever he wants.” Manabu brought Jin into a heated kiss, and the drummer smiled. But then Rui walked in.
“Hey, sorry I’m-“ He was cut off by just seeing them there. “Holy fuck!” Both Manabu and Jin turned to see the bassist standing in shock there. “What the hell? What the hell is goin on here?” Rui looked at Manabu and then at Jin, and then he looked up at the ceiling. “First I walk in and I find Byou and Kazuki making out in the stair well, and now I walk in and I see you two making out… what the fuck is going on here?!” Manabu and Jin looked at each other and nodded.
“I’m canceling practice for today; we’ll tell you everything tomorrow, ne?” Rui did nothing but nod. The bassist walked, no, rather, ran out of the building. Manabu and Jin followed and picked up Byou and Kazuki on the way out. “Practice is canceled!” Jin called from the top of the staircase. Both the vocalist’s and the guitarist’s faces lit up with excitement.
“I want all of us to hang out for today, to catch up on things; how bout it?” Manabu stated. Byou and Kazuki looked at each other, then at the two that stood in front of them.
“We had different plans… But those can wait till tonight, right Byou-chan?” The vocalist glared at Kazuki, but smiled and nodded. Looking over at Manabu and Jin, who had smirks on their faces.
“Well, I don’t think we wanna know bout those plans… How bout we go to a café and talk?” Everyone nodded in agreement.
