Chapter 8
“As always, they left us to deal with the police…” Kai stated. They were sitting in very familiar chairs in the police station, Uruha next to them as well, having been informed of everything while he was in a coma. “Why…?”
“Sunshine, you know how much of a handful Ruki can be. And ever since he saw Ayane in his dream he’s been a wreck. No doubt Uruha’s condition making it worse, and poor Rei…” Aoi just trailed off. “Speaking of Reita…” He got out his cell phone to call the bassist. One ring. Two rings. Three rings. Four rings. Five rings. Reita finally picked up on the last ring.
“Suuuuuzzzzzzukiiiiiiii Aaaaaakiiiiraaaa” Aoi was taken aback by how slurred his words were.
“Rei, are you drunk?” This caught the others attention’s. Uruha was reaching out his hand for the phone, and Aoi was quickly obliging.
“Rei, what happened? Did you and Ruki get into a fight?” Uruha was asking questions, some not spoken, because he knew the other was drunk, and didn’t wanna push anything.
“Uruha… no. we didn’t fight. But he did storm out, and I know its my fault. Oh damn….”
“Rei, I need to know what happened to help.”
“The only way you can help me is to tell me where he went, and I doubt you can, cause he can be so unpredictable…”
“What were you guys talking about?”
“Ayane. I tried to bring up the subject; tried to get him to talk about it, because it would make him feel better. But then he got all snappy, and I asked if he felt at fault for her death. He said yes, no rather yelled it, and stormed off a few minutes later. And now im finally drinking that bottle of sake you gave me…” He gave a small chuckle.
“Rei, I think I might know where he is, you just stay there, and we are gonna find him for you.” Uruha hung up the phone right after that, and handed the phone back to its owner. “Ruki. He’s probably at the cemetery. We need to go and get him.”
“But why would he-“ Kai started.
“They got on the topic of Ayane.” Enough was said by then to get them all going towards the cemetery.
While they were in the car and pulling out of the driveway, they realized it -they had no idea how to get there. They decided to call up Reita, but then stopped, remembering how drunk the other was.
“Ok… We are screwed….” Aoi stated.
~~~
The rain started to fall. And it fell hard. But he did nothing, his guilt keeping him where he was. He kept believing that everything was his fault. Even Kikuyama.
His guilt washed him over, not the rain. He stayed where he was, letting himself soak in the rain.
“Aya-chan… Why cant I let anything go?” And why was he expecting an answer? He touched her name, slowly his hand was sliding down the wet limestone, the smooth surface was glass under his fingers. “Oh, Ayane…why do I feel its always my fault? Why cant I let go?” he let out a small sob. “Ayane…” A few more sobs. “You havent left my mind since this whole mess started! Damnit! Are you fucking happy?!” that last sentence was yelled, whether it was towards Ayane or God, Ruki wasn’t even sure. He then covered his mouth, regretting everything that he had said, softly apoligizing. He was oblivious to the motorcycle pulling up to the place were he was, and the running footsteps through the cemetery. He only realized reality when he felt the strong hands on his shoulders. He looked up at Reita, the blonde’s eyes hazy. “Rei?”
“I’ve been worried about you. Ive been worried sick!”
“Are you drunk?”
“That doesn’t matter. At least your ok.”
“How did you know where to find me?”
“Uruha figured it out.” Ruki was silent. Was he the cause for Reita being this drunk? So drunk he couldn’t figure out where he was running to? These thoughts made Ruki begin to cry again. “Baby, whats wrong?”
“Its because of me your drunk, isnt it?” there was a small silence.
“Its only because I was worried about you, baby.” Ruki cried again, and felt Reita’s arms wrap around him.
“Its always because of me that something bad happens!”
“Baby, it was my choice to drink as much as I did.”
“No… I wished Ayane dead. That was back when I was such an Atheist. She was cheating on me, that I didn’t mind, but she always kept things from me, and was always believing in God, and I just smiled and nodded. She never knew my thoughts on him, because I wanted her to be happy. We shared the same birthday. I got her a cross necklace, and I found out that later that day, after she died, she got me one as well. I wear it everyday now.” Once again, Ruki had shocked the bassist with what he said. “The night I found out she was cheating on me, was the night before our birthday. I took the cross that I got her, held it in my hands and said ‘prove to me that you exist. If you do, then I wish her dead. Lets see if you can kill a true believer like her.’ And then the next day, she gets run over by a fucking car! That Kikuyama was driving! What the fuck is wrong with me, Rei?”
“Taka, there is nothing wrong with you.”
“Rei, everyone around me is either dead, dying, or getting hurt one way or another! How can you say that there is nothing wrong with me?”
“Baby, in my eyes, you are perfect.” Ruki gave a small chuckle.
“But im not, Rei. I just want you to be honest to me, what is wrong with me?”
“Taka, im always gonna be honest with you. I love you so much, and that’s all that matters to me, not your flaws, not my flaws, just my love for you, and me getting your love in return, which is why I cant stand seeing you like this.” Ruki just looked up into the elder’s eyes, and reached up quickly to capture those lips in a slow kiss. Tongues entwined, Ruki let Reita dominate this time, just wanting to taste him, and be within his arms, feel his lips moving against his, and feeling the friction of his tongue. Damn, he’d been gone for maybe two hours, and he was already craving it.
Their kiss continued on for some minutes before Ruki broke the kiss, because that’s when he realized it.
“Rei, don’t let me go, ever.” This made the bassist smile.
“That’s a promise that I can easily keep.” Hearing his other’s promise, Ruki smiled, and he pulled Reita back into a heated kiss, and he himself was dominataing this time. “I love you, Ru-chan. Damn I love you so much.”
“I love you too, Rei.”
“So tell me, why did you come here?” The younger was silent for a few short moments, and Reita feared that he was going to run off on him again… That is, until he heard Ruki’s angelic voice starting to speak with a sigh.
“Even if she is dead, she deserves to know why she died… and an apoligy. But, how could I ever be forgiven for what Ive done? This is technically murder, Rei!’
“You ask Him to forgive you.” Ruki shook his head back and forth, and grabbed a good hold on Reita’s shoulder’s.
“But. I. Wished. Her. Dead! How could He ever forgive me when I was the one that asked it of Him, Reita?!” Mentioned person gave a small sigh after what the younger had said, and he thought for a second. What could he say that might make Ruki feel better? He took in a deep breath before he spoke.
“In my eyes, Taka, the past is the past. Sure it can come back to bite you in the ass, but it is always best to move on, and not to live in the past; stay in the present. Look towards a brighter future, baby. Because in that future, it’ll be me by your side, no matter what you do.” Ruki gave a slight smile, but the blonde soon found out that it was a cover up for the younger’s tears.
“I doesn’t change the fact that im the only one at fault here…” Reita could see the invisible trails of sorrow that was threatening to leave the fawn eyes; Reita tightened his arms around the younger in an attempt to soothe the younger. The younger lost his battle, and that loss was landing him in a tighter embrace. “What is wrong with me, Rei? Everything is always happening around me!”
Reita let out a sigh before he spoke. “Baby, in my eyes, you are perfect. There is nothing I see that is wrong with you. I have other things, like your safety, to think about your flaws, or my own flaws. All I care about is you. And I don’t blame you at all.” A sad smile bloomed on Ruki’s lips before he spoke.
“Yeah, and you never will, Rei. You care about me so much that you are blinded to reality and the situation at hand! Open your fucking eyes, Reita! I’M NOT FLAWLESS!” Reita just sat there in front of Ruki; how could he digest this information? Was it because of Ayane that he is so mad and upset about everything? Or was he speaking the truth about him? He just couldn’t decide, for then he would be admitting another flaw about himself, and he just couldn’t do that.
He wasn’t even thinking about what he was doing. His body jerked forward, sweeping up Ruki’s smaller body, and ran towards the exit of the cemetery. Arriving at the blonde’s motorcycle, he handed, or rather forced the helmet on Ruki’s head, and lifted the younger onto the motorcycle so that the vocalist sat in front of him.
“Rei… Your drunk.” The elder chuckled.
“Nah, I just faked it~.” Ruki just smiled and shook his head back and forth; leave it to Reita to fake being drunk…
“Can we go back to our apartment?” Looking up at the elder, all Ruki saw was that big dorky smile on Reita’s face. “What’s so funny?”
“You put emphasis on ‘our’. You just love calling it ours, ne?” Ruki let out a small chuckle, and then the blonde nodded his head. “You’re too cute, Ru-chan.” The elder started to ruffle the younger’s hair, but Ruki stopped him, slapping his hand away.
“Don’t mess up my hair Reita!” Ruki’s hands were flapping around his head, as if there were flies around his angelic features. The bassist could see that it was all out of fun, but he knew how stylish the younger loved being, and whoever messed with his clothes, were in for Tyrant Ruki.
“And I’ll say it again, you are too cute, Taka-chan.” All the younger did was give a faint smile and chuckle, the most real one Reita had seen from him all day, and this made him less worried.
“I wanna drive!” This random little outburst earned Ruki a curious look from his other. “Wha~t? I have my license on me!” Reita shook his head. “I know the quickest way back!” This got the elder’s attention. The less time that they took trying to get back, the more time he could have with Ruki… Then Ruki’s phone rang again. “Kouyou, what do you want?” Ruki and Reita gave a small chuckle knowing the sarcasm, but Uruha was serious.
“It’s Kai.”
