This meme was around a month ago or so, I think? But I didn't really do it because I didn't have time / wasn't in the right headspace / etc.

I love that scene with Will and Emma to pieces because it flip a lot of conventions in American television and movies. The typical thing that would happen in that situation is that the guy would suddenly be free! And he'd go to the woman and be all confident and she'd be swept off her feet! And that didn't happen here at all. First of all, Will. He was completely emotionally exhausted in that scene, and it was pretty clear that even he didn't know where he should go from there. I love peeling back the layers of characters and seeing the vulnerabilities, so having that out there was really intriguing for me.

Furthermore, kudos to Emma for having the guts to see the situation for what it was and realizing that she shouldn't act with her emotions. I'm so used to seeing the woman being emotional and going with whatever that it was refreshing to see the man being inclined to go with that (as much as he could, anyway) and the woman saying "no, stop. Think about this." It was a gender role reversal and it was a fabulous one at that. Emma put her foot down, but she did it in a way that stayed true to her character. There wasn't any sudden 180; she still wanted him badly, but she realized that it was just not a good idea.

ftr, I don't think the ending nullifies that in any way. Part of me wishes that Will was too late in catching Emma, but then again, I think that would go against the spirit of the show? At least, Will being just in time makes more sense than Will being too late in terms of the dramedy musical, IMHO. and I'm making no sense so I'm stopping there.

TERRI right. I am neutral on her. I think she had Finn's problem of "I WILL BE FUNNY BECAUSE THE SHOW NEEDS FUNNY" so a lot of stuff with her was really extreme and bordered on grating. But goddamnit I loved every minute of her and Kendra. "I THINK HE MADE THEM STUPID." tl;dr, I am totally cool with Terri sticking around as long as we get her sister too because that shit is funny, and I liked that the last episode really hinted at Terri developing as a character. I don't want Will and Terri to get back together, though, because it would just be bad for both of them.

I HAVE SO MANY THOUGHTS ON GLEE and I haven't even finished my rewatch. The DVDs are sitting over elsewhere, staring at me.

this thread is now a glee conversation thread.
