IC Information:
Name: Terra
Fandom:  Kingdom Hearts
Timeline: Post-Game (Birth By Sleep)
Age: Around 20 or so. Unconfirmed in canon.
Appearance: Terra is a muscular, tall male with slicked back, spiky brown hair that’s grown out long in the back. He has blue eyes and a sharp, tan face. He wears a tight black shirt that outlines his chest and abdominal muscles with red bands crossing over his chest to form an “X”. On his left arm he has a shoulder guard that connects to a gauntlet on his arm. The shoulderguard is golden with an orange and black circle that can be pressed to activate Terra’s armor. The gauntlet itself is black with sharp, bronze ribs branching outward. A single grey, fingerless glove covers his left hand, and a black wristband on the right. His pants are long and wide with several folds; colored beige with a black waist tied around his hips with a belt crested by a gold emblem. On his feet are a pair of sharp, heavy, golden greaves.

When his armor is activated, he becomes encased in bronze, gold, black, and red plates of armor. His helmet has two long, thin cat ear-like structures coming out from the sides and branching upward, about the length of the head itself. (They stick straight up, think rabbit + cat) In addition to the form-fitting armor, Terra has a long, flowing cape when his armor is activates as well.

Abilities: First and foremost, Terra is a keyblade wielder and pseudo keyblade master. His primary Keyblade, “Ends of The Earth” is a long, thick, bronze blade with large ribbed teeth on the end like a key and a turquoise hilt. Having years and years of experience as a fighter, being so as long as he can remember, Terra is a very formidable opponent in battle, especially with his weapon. He relies mostly on brute strength when attacking normally, being able to deliver devastating blows with relative ease, especially when compared to his peers. Even so, he is still incredibly quick when pushed to his limits, especially when activating his darkness to enter a “Shadow rush” state, and can glide when needed to. Again, when he’s pushed to his absolute limits he can unleash several creative and devastating techniques, though usually only in his armor because of the difficulty and risk they are to himself and others. He can stab his keyblade into the ground, creating a runic setup around himself, eventually pulsing out blinding, burning light. He can also transform his keyblade into a bow and arrow, making him capable of shooting out arrows of light as well as small, transparent sentries that can shoot out rays of light and darkness, and even form around someone to trap them. Another transformation his keyblade can make causes it to grow and become a cannon that fires out enormous boulder sized balls of light that explode on contact, but can be deflected. His ability to make his keyblade grow and change shape is something unique to him, and can be utilized to overcome a number of battle situations.

As well as physical combat skills, Terra can utilize a variety of magical techniques such as Fire, Blizzard, Thunder, Zero Gravity (Making enemies float up helplessly into the air) Wind, and healing, with various, creative ways to put each element to use. However, Terra’s true strength (as his name implies) is earth based techniques. He can lay traps of mines in the ground, bring down meteors, cause the ground to shake and tear upward into stalagmites. Another highlight of Terra’s magical abilities is the darkness. He can use it to amplify the strength of his attacks, as well as giving him the ability to fire out bolts of darkness from his keyblade, each tiny shot capable of scalding and scarring skin on contact. These abilities and exemplified and amplified within his use of command styles.

Command styles are certain “modes” Terra can enter after utilizing different techniques and abilities. There are two tiers of command styles, and after entering one, Terra can then utilize even more techniques to enter a second, more powerful command style. The command styles are as follows:

Critical Impact: Wherein Terra’s body gains a golden outline. This style is gained by using natural strike-like attack with the keyblade, and increases his strength twofold.

Fire Slaze: A command style reached by using fire techniques. It gives Terra a red outline and imbues each of his attacks with a fiery attribute, as well as increasing the intensity of his fire attacks. He finishes this command style by unleashing a series of towering pillars of flame before losing the style unless moving on to a second tier style.

Diamond Dust: In this command style, gained by using ice abilities, Terra gains a light blue outline, much in line with Fire Blazer, it gives each of his moves the ice attribute and powers up his ice magic. The finisher is crystalizing much of the area around him for a moment and then breaking it.

Thunder Bolt: A swift command style that unleashes power lightning upon attacks.  Similar to the other elemental command styles. The finisher consists of Terra summoning a ball of lightning over his head and thrusting his keyblade into it, causing several lightning bolts to shoot out at the enemies surrounding.

RockBreaker: A second tier activated with earth-style commands. A powerful and long randged command style that works best on the ground, unearthing rock from underneath him and firing them out at his enemies. It further increases the strength of his normal attacks much more greatly than Critical Impact. The finisher it swirling three enormous stones around himself and shooting them at his foes.

Blade Charge: Activated by use of fire or ice commands. In this Command Style, the Keyblade resembles a large, glowing sword. It becomes considerably more powerful than in all lower command styles, in both physical and magical qualities.

Dark Impulse: A command style in which Terra summons the power of darkness to attack enemies. A versatile command style that hits enemies with slow, heavy attacks, but also exhibits long-range attacks. In this form Terra takes on a dark, ghastly glow and is able to transform his hand into a large, dangerous one capable of ripping enemies apart. He can go underground by hiding in his shadow and pop up to grab his foe or deliver a powerful blow of keyblade swipes. In terms of raw power, this command style is Terra’s most powerful.

In addition to all of these skills, Terra can turn his keyblade into a rider of sorts which he can hop on in or out of combat to use to his liking. Though mostly used for transportation across the world, he can also use it to smash or ram into opponents.

Personality  (Revised): At heart, Terra is a good guy who means well. He tries his best to make friends and remains very earnest in that respect. His friends mean the world to him and would gladly sink in and give in to the darkness if it meant being able to save them from harm. Underneath his good qualities lies a deep-seated fear of losing, which feeds his obsession with power, giving way to the darkness inside his heart. This darkness makes Terra easy to manipulate, especially when taking advantage of his friendly, trusting demeanor.

Even with all of this darkness, Terra tries his best to remain positive, believing in his dreams and the dreams of others, as well as the idea that good will prevail over evil. This white and black morality can cause him to go astray in order to destroy what threatens himself and others, leaving him rather enigmatic in that respect.

Though much of the way he acts revolves around other people, Terra is just as functional a person when by himself. He's analytical and a quick thinker, which helps him deal with the difficulties and complications that come with traveling to other worlds. He can get to the bottom of things easily when the layers of deceit are torn off. But his trouble discerning just that is what flaws this ability of his. He trusts his judgment of both people and situations, and acts accordingly. It's best put that Terra is great at analyzing situations, but fails when it comes to analyzing people. His eyes fail when trying to look past the darkness in their hearts, just as they fail when trying to look past the light.

In high stress, dangerous situations, Terra will always do what he deems necessary for himself and others, including sacrificing himself for the well-being of a friend. His obsessions with power plays into these types of situations as well. While he'll be able to see the problem clearly, Terra's mindset, most likely passed down by Eraqus, would lead him to think that the only way to excise it would be by destroying it. So while a situation could easily be diffused by a simple talk, Terra would think it more useful to fight first and ask questions later. His power is his strongest point, as well as his largest weakness.

Another gaping flaw of Terra's is his trouble with communicating. While a quick thinker, the things he comes up with aren't always exactly air tight. He'll choose to leave his friends in the dark rather than risk them getting into danger, which might, and usually does end with the same result. It's his inability to be straight with Ventus and Aqua about what was going on with Xehanort that ultimately dooms him.

History:  In his youth, Terra spent his days as a Keyblade apprentice training under his Master and Father-Figure, Eraqus in the Land of Departure. He lived with his close frind Aqua, sharing the dream of being a keyblade master some day with both Aqua and eventually Ventus. Terra’s life changed when Master Xehanort arrived at their home with an amnesiac Ventus, whom Terra immediately began questioning about his past. These questions proved too much for Ventus and the boy fell into a deep sleep that lasted for days. This made Terra feel very, very guilty and this guilt created the foundation a big-brother relationship with Ventus that would carry on for the rest of their lives. After the day Ventus woke up, Terra and Ven became inseparable and Terra even gave Ven his cherished wooden keyblade.

Some years later, Terra and Aqua both engage in the mark of mastery exams in order to became Masters just like Eraqus and Xehanort, an incredible feat for their age. However, Terra failed the exam as Eraqus deemed him incapable of controlling the darkness inside him, leaving Terra confused and dissapointed in himself. Unbeknownst to him, it was Master Xehanort’s doing that allowed his darkness to get so out of control.

After some coercing by Master Xehanort to embrace and channel the darkness inside himself, Terra is sent out on a mission to find and eliminate the unversed, who were threatening the worlds. He was told this was a second chance of gaining the mark of mastery, so Terra eagerly took up his keyblade and embarked on his quest.

Unknowingly being tailed by Ven, Terra was off to destroy the unversed and find Master Xehanort, and while visiting the worlds, he encountered many situations that tested his darkness.  He was even manipulated by Malefecint to remove Princess Aurora’s heart, an act that haunted him for the entirety of his quest. Eventually he did meet up with Master Xehanort at the keyblade graveyard, who told him of Vanitas, an evil creation with whom he created and was the person responsible for the unversed. He tells Terra to go to Radiant Garden to find the masked boy.

Upon reaching Radiant Garden, Terra meets up with both Aqua and Ventus to take out a monstrous unversed. After the battle, Aqua reveals that she’s been following and spying on Terra, remarking, “I’ve seen the things that you’ve done...You shouldn’t put yourself so close to the darkness.” In finding out that one of his best friends didn’t trust him, he became angry and stormed off on his own, leaving Aqua upset and Ven disgusted by Aqua’s mistrust. Shortly after, he was told Master Xehanort was kidnapped by a mysterious man who he went to find and defeat. This turned out to be a scheme by Xehanort to further dig the darkness out of Terra’s heart, furthering him towards a state in which would make his heart capable of being taken over by himself. After becoming a hero in Olympus, making friends with the “violent” 626 in Deep Space, and thwarting Captain Hook’s plans in Neverland, Terra found himself in a place he was guided to by a “Warm light.” There he saw a young boy with which he saw an incredible, powerful, resilient light. The boy’s name was Riku, and Terra chose him to be the boy that he would give the power of the keyblade to; an ability that Riku would gain many, many years later. The boy told him he wanted to “protect the things that matter,” which greatly inspired Terra and gave him a newfound drive in his quest.

Later, Terra again met up with Xehanort, who himself had deemed Terra a master in order to become closer to the boy. He tells him that Ventus stumbled upon his origins and was going to be destroyed by Eraqus. Upon arriving in the Land of Deparute, Terra taps into his darkness after coming face to face with Eraqus attempting to irradiate Ventus..After throwing Ventus into a portal to another world, Terra soundly defeated Master Eraqus, but immediately regretted it and apologized afterwards. However, Eraqus insisted that he was the one who had failed and that he himself is the one  tainted by darkness. Overcome with guilt of raising his Keyblade against Terra and Ventus in the first place. At that moment, however, Master Xehanort arrived and murdered Master Eraqus with a bolt of darkness from behind. Terra embraced his Master as he faded into nothingness, inheriting the heart of his Master through this same embrace. With his true intentions exposed, Xehanort beckoned Terra to come to the Keyblade Graveyard before shrouding the Land of Departure in darkness, which left the entire world in ruin. A place that would eventually become known as Castle Oblivion.

When Terra arrived in the Keyblade Graveyard, Terra once again met up with Aqua and Ventus. He told Aqua of his hand in Master Eraqus’ destruction, overcome with guilt, claiming that he did need to be watched and Aqua was right all along. He insisted that he would set things right by destroying Master Xehanort, with which Aqua meets as just more hate, rage, and darkness, things that would just lead him to go astray again. Terra however has no time to take this into account, as Master Xehanort and Vanitas both show up to battle the trio. Terra ends up facing off against both Xehanort and Vanitas. Half-way through the battle, Xehanort told Vanitas to run to Aqua and Ventus, commanding him to “take what Ventus owes you, and take Aqua’s life.” While Terra wanted to go after him, Xehanort stopped him. At this point Terra became so angry, so desperate for revenge and desperate for the power to save his friends that he let loose all of his darkness, becoming incredibly powerful, easily outmuscling Xehanort in the fit of power and rage. It’s that action that allows Xehanort to release his heart and take over Terra’s body. The darkness made him vulnerable to Xehanort, and Terra’s empty armor now littered the ground where Xehanort stood, now in Terra’s body. Now with Terra’s body and silver hair, Xehanort scoffed at Terra, moving to exit the scene when the area became trapped in chains of light. The armor had risen up on it’s own, leading Xehanort to exclaim “Your heart succumbs, your body submits, so why does your mind resist!?” The remnants of Terra’s mind, presumably fueled by his drive and rage towards defeating Master Xehanort allowed the armor to rise up and battle the now Terra-Xehanort. The Linger Sentiment defeats the man, leaving him semi-amnesiac and to eventually have Aqua help it lock it’s heart away from Master Xehanort. The armor then stuck it’s keyblade into the ground and kneeled, where it would stay for the next decade. The final echoes of Terra’s mind are “Ven, Aqua...One day, I’ll set things right.”

Roleplay Sample - Log: It was another day, business as usual. Wake up, study, train, spar. The lead up to the exam was so tiring, so tedious. It was definitely something he wanted to break out of. That was what this was. He had snuck out with Ventus late at night, just for some star gazing. There were no meteor showers, no shooting stars. Just a nice, simple, warm night. The stars were beautiful, as always. So beautiful and so calming that it was hard not to fall asleep.

“Hey, Ven. You think one day we could visit all of those starts? I wanna see the light up close. The kind Master always talk about,” Terra calmly said, with no response from his friend.

“Ven?”

And apparently, it was a lot harder for Ven especially. Terra sighed and quietly chuckled, watching his friend sleep.

Roleplay Sample - Journal: [Terra crosses his leg over his knee and looks out into distance. Trees were always interesting places to sit in, and there were never many in the Land of Departure.] You see all this? This is what I like, [The young man cups his chin and smiles.] Serenity. Free of anger and strife...It’s nice, isn’t it? If the world, if all words could stay like this...
