when he's not setting her up, he takes time to rest his head on her shoulder. sometimes he even chooses to rest it in her lap. she winds her fingers between dark curls, in rememberance.

"you don't see me."

"i beg your pardon?"

she sounds distracted, not even properly annoyed.

"it's not me you're seeing when -" his voice breaks unexpectedly. annie flinches; her fingers stop their frantic dance.

"what if i do?" she asks in a quiet voice, and it sounds like a rhetorical question. mitchell shifs and turns his face upward, looking at her with dark inquiring eyes. there's something else in there, something she had often made up in her mind before, something that now seems appropriate.

"i see hope", annie finally says.

kneeling, he reaches for her. his hands press gently on her breasts, their foreheads meet. "can you feel it?" he whispers, and she thinks, for a split second, that she can catch a heart beat again.

oh, it's so nice of you! writing in character is among the things i consider greatest achievements, so thank you :).

also, i'm planning loads of annie/mitchell soon. they're perfect. they're angsty, and romantic, and scared; my exact type of pairing. and this lil' bit will be at my writing journal. i can link it to you if you want me to.
