Ahaha. I remember having this discussion before about Massu's orientation. Like, he has this 'macho' image--but what if he's just using it to hide his 'real' orientation (read: gay)? XD I mean, he's pretty sporty, wears baggy pants, trains his body and stuff but he also: a)paints his nails; b)is scared of bugs; c)is a neat freak (which is sort of a girly trait). Another person says he goes for facials (but I think all idols do, rofl). :P Anyway, my sister and I had the same sentiment awhile ago--we really want to know how they're like in RL (yes, even if it's negative)--even if we have to work as staff at the jimusho, lol.

Well, I have the impression that Tegoshi IRL is a racist jerk (relevant to one of your posts?). At least based on that account on je_secrets where he practically ignored the rest of the fans in favor of a hot blonde on a NEWS concert, I do have that impression of him. I pity the girl though (the one who got ditched)--going all the way to see her idol, I think other people don't have the right to say she's insecure (I'd feel really bad if it were me)--but her only fault was that she generalized that every JE boy is a jerk IRL. D: Well for the blonde thing, I think it's more of a personal preference than a racism issue, but you can never really tell.

Well Massu--I think he's more of a normal guy than his NEWS "image" portrays him. I don't think all he cares about are eating and shopping and wearing technicolor outfits. But my theory is, that all of these "personalities" are scripted. Just so there's a sense of "variety" in the group. It's kind of sad when I think about it, but then that's how it is in the industry. *sigh*

Ah, long comment is long. Sorry for the rant. =____=;;

So true. I think Massu respects his co-members as colleagues and all. While I do enjoy the member ai, I don't think NEWS crossed the barrier yet when it comes to personal relationships like SMAP, TOKIO or Arashi.

You'd notice it when you read the interviews and such. It's basically the same thing again and again. Tsaka si Koyama and Shige - I seriously think they're smarter than that. XD

I also see Tegoshi as someone who's quite a casanova. He likes em blonde and hot. But a racist Tegoshi is someone I really imagine. Weirdly, while Pi is quite "badass", I feel he's pretty open to cultures and all.

I remember the SC segment of Uchi for his comeback. Koyama was obviously at a loss on what to say. Uchi was obviously sucking up to him but he couldn't respond easily. I've heard they've maintained a nice relationship behind the cameras, even going golfing and all (if the rumors were true) pero Koyama obviously is very conscious of his "idol image".

Uh-huh, well said. I do notice for the very few times that he talks to his fellow members that... he's a tad bit formal with them. I don't know what exactly makes me think of it that way, I just get that feeling. Like for DVD footage and stuff, he usually just stands in the corner and lets all the other members do their thing. He usually just answers when asked, but other than that, he's the silent one. As if he does it because it's necessary for work.

I'd love to see the day when they finally get to call each other 'friends' and not 'co-workers'. Such a silly fangirl wish, I know, but it'd help a lot to be closer to each other--especially when they spend a lot of time with each other for work. For now, I find this a blind dream since they all have their own little cliques--but I'm not giving up just yet. ARASHI started being close during their later years--so it might not be too late for NEWS. :'(

I think Koyama is a lot more serious than his 'idol' self. Smoking? Definitely not what the idol!Koyama would be doing--but something real!Koyama would do. For Shige though, aside from hiding the adult things he does, I have the impression that his idol!self is closer to his real!self (more than any of the other members). Could just be me, though.

As much as I love Tegomass, there are times when I dislike now!Tego. I sometimes even think Tegomass is like the NEWS counterpart for KAT-TUN's Akame--in the sense that both their other halves underwent drastic changes. Attitude changes to be precise. I won't say Tegoshi is a Jin-clone, but he's close to being one (except, of course Tego's a lot more cooperative and doesn't look bored all the time). I think Pi is the typical celebrity--he's liberated, he parties, he dates bad girls, he does adult stuff--it's no big issue. I'm still a conservative thinker but things like these are basically written law in the showbiz world.

Ah, I know. I believe when the cameras stop rolling, they all have decent connections (civil, but not necessarily close) with each other. Though I think Ryo is the only one brave enough to casually mention Uchi at the most.
