after reading an article on Gaper's Block, I spent some time reading Illinois' listing of crimes and associated typical sentences... some of my favorites:

CAUSING A CATASTROPHE (720 ILCS 5/20-5-5 )
-Felony Up to $25,000 Fine &/or 6 to 30 Years in Pen.

PUBLIC DRUNKENNESS (20 ILCS 301/55-15 )
- No county, municipality or political subdivision may adopt or enforce any law that includes being intoxicated as the sole basis of the offense.

ADULTERY (720 ILCS 5/11-7)
-Up to $2500 Fine &/or Up to 1 Year in Jail

LASER POINTERS (pointing at officers)(720 ILCS 5/24.6)
-Up to $2500 Fine &/or Up to 1 Year in Jail

EDUCATION INTIMIDATION
(threatening child believed to have infectious disease to attend or participate in school activities) (720 ILCS 5/12-7.2 )
-1st Offense
Up to $1500 Fine &/or 30 Days in Jail
