The time has come again, for my customary recap of the past year... can you believe a whole year has gone by so quickly? Meme below stolen from tinyangl, cut for length:
What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before?
- Dissect a human cadaver (and been enrolled in medical school!)
- Worked with clay
- Ate paella (in NYC!)
- Participated in Diwali
Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't make New Years' resolutions anymore.
Did anyone close to you give birth?
No.
Did anyone close to you die?
No, thank goodness.
What countries did you visit?
China!
What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?

What date from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
November 4th! - the day that Barack Obama was elected president, our future started to look brighter.
What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Passing anatomy.
What was your biggest failure?
Not honoring anatomy (so close!)
Did you suffer illness or injury?
Nothing major.
What was the best thing you bought?
My new laptop! (photo not mine)
Whose behavior merited celebration?
Er. Not really sure... my mother perhaps? She keeps unplugging the answering machine and refusing to pick up when her boss calls, so that she remains unscheduled for work the next day or so. ::amused::
Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
No one that I can think of.
Where did most of your money go?
Rent, alas. Though it's not my money, per se.
What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Going to China for the summer! (I was also a little over-excited about getting to dress up in geisha-wear, as you can see) ^^;
What song(s) will always remind you of 2008?
Almost Lover, Okaeri, I'm Yours, Tong Hua, to name a few (Why yes, I am a bit behind on the music of the times... don't judge :P )
Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder?
About the same. But if not happier, at least more at peace?
ii. thinner or fatter?
About the same :)
iii. richer or poorer?
Richer, but again, it's really not my money. (Also my bank account currently has an entire semester's worth of tuition in it, so that's why lol)

Talked less and listened more, slept more and spent less, said "I love you" more, dreamed more, judged less, spent more time reading books and less time online, smiled more, taken more risks, made less mistakes, spent more time with friends and less time alone, cooked more, learned more, shopped more, wrote more, traveled more, lived more

What was your favorite TV program?
In English, Heroes. In Japanese... either Bara no Nai Hanaya or Last Friends. Can't decide!

Hmm. Leona Lewis? (belated, yet again, I know ><)
- particularly this song, which you should watch the music video for b/c she is so beautiful and expressive, esp. in black and white ^^
What did you want and get?
Many things! (no, this isn't an indication of my circumstances as a spoiled only child... why do you ask?)
What was your favorite film of this year?
The Dark Knight, followed closely by Iron Man. Though Slumdog Millionaire was awesome too, as well as The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, which I just saw recently.
- As a side note, the short story of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is nowhere near as good as the movie, but still an interesting read.
What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Turned 20 (still one more year to go!!!), went to Penang for dinner, and then had tiramisu (thanks to Sophia and Snigdha and Lily ♥ ), and then celebrated at Marathon Grill.
What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Sex :P

How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
In need of a change. Or, in other words, I need to stop buying clothes based on the best available bargains/price. XD

Family, friends, and the knowledge that I'd always be able to turn to them.

What are your plans for 2009?
To be as happy, healthy, and hard-working as I can, as often as I can. To survive the 1st year of medical school, take advantage of the last free summer I'll ever really have, travel abroad maybe? And to rise above the little things, whatever they may be.
