She had threatened an ass kicking and she was sure he somehow thought she was joking, maybe she was. She had been hellbent on getting to where he was and threatened hitch hiking. That had gotten John's attention and the protectiveness in him shined through and he said he was coming to get her. That had made her smile despite the threat she had given.
