It's a Beautiful Day
~

When Yunho was younger, he met an angel.

~

Every day after his elementary school was over, he would go to the play ground near his house before he went home. It was there that he saw the boy.

At first, he paid no attention to him. After all, he was just like another kid who came and played in the sun-kissed playground. Yunho would sometimes come with his friends, trying to bring along as many people as he could.

They would play tag, and chase each other, their carefree laughter filling up their surroundings. However, no one had noticed the small form on the swings, listening to them having fun, silently shedding tears in his loneliness.

But, Little Yunho was considered the leader of their small group. He had a sort of power that made everyone want to be around him, and follow whatever he says

For this reason, he was usually never alone.

~

It was mid September, the gentle autumn breeze sweeping across the plains. Golden, red, and orange leaves were scattered across the abandoned play ground. Yunho stood in the middle, thinking of things he could do. For one reason or another, none of his friends were able to come there after school with him.

He found his way to the sandbox, conjuring up ideas to make something. As he dug his little fingers in the smooth sand, the grains running between his fingers, he heard a slight squeaking sound behind him. His brown eyes flickered behind him, spotting a frail figure on the swings. It was only then that he realized that he wasn't alone.

He stood up, stalking up to him determinedly. A cute smile formed on his lips, his eyes twinkling in anticipation. As he got nearer, he could see the small form of the boy better. Yunho surveyed the smaller boy; his skin was pale, a pair of dark marbles stared into nothingness, while his lips were pink, making him even more so like a girl.

Yunho stood in front of a boy and immediately started to introduce himself.

"Annyeon-" His sudden declaration caused a reaction Yunho never expected.

The boy jerked back, flinging himself off the swing involuntarily. He fell ungraciously on the dirty ground. Pale arms snaked around his knees as the other gathered himself, his form slightly trembling.

"Wh-who a-are you?" His teary eyes stared up, the dark orbs unfocused, on the sky.

Yunho frowned, his small hands waving in front of the boy's face. No reaction. Like two puzzle pieces, the situation finally set in, fitting in together. ***He can't see.*** It was a simple fact, but the simple eight year could care less. All he wanted to do was make friends with the pale boy.

"I'm Yunho. Do you want to play with me?" Yunho smiled slowly placing his hand on the boy's shoulder. He could tell that the other was slowly calming down, a soft sniffling sound the only thing coming from him.

"Y-you want t-to play w-with m-me?" He stuttered, disbelief dripping his voice.

"Yeah." Yunho helped him up, guiding him to his feet.

"What's your name?"

"Jaejoong... I'm blind." Yunho blinked, his hand hand slipping between Jaejoong's taking him towards the sandbox.

"I know."

~

Every day for a few years the two met up in the park. Yunho found out that Jaejoong had a brother who always brought him to the park, and took him to other places which he couldn't go by himself. He also found out that Jaejoong came from a poor family. Apparently, his father died, leaving his mother to support him and his brother.

The two played, laughed, and talked, not allowing Jaejoong's blindness to get in the way of their friendship. And just as expected, they grew closer. Yunho developed an unexplainable strong feeling toward the younger boy, wanting to protect him even though he too was young. Yunho enjoyed his time with Jaejoong; his guilty pleasure became watching the boy smile, staring at Jaejoong's warm eyes. Although unseeing, they held certain warmth.

But then came the day when Jaejoong didn't show up at their meeting place. Thirteen old Yunho waited and waited; day after day he looked for Jaejoong but he never showed up. After a while, Yunho gave up, feeling sad when he thought about his friend abandoning him.

Years passed by, but the image of his friend Jaejoong, stayed fresh in his mind.

~

Yunho's icy gaze was trained outside, his limo speeding in the highways of Seoul. He had a meeting and he could not be late. After years of practicing law, he now had something to say. He had a press meeting, involving his newest case that was graciously won by him. A smirk played on his lips, I have won 23 out of 23 cases that I've had so far. At this rate, I may be able to get into the famous 'league of Lawyers'...

The only people, who knew about this "league", were top lawyers who were good enough to be notified that such a thing existed. He knew that this press conference, may allow him to join the league. With that thought, he growled, turning to his driver.

"YAH! If I'm late to this meeting, it'll be your head! Hurry up!" His deep voice did more than startle the driver, giving Yunho a satisfying result. Soon however, they were stuck in the traffic of downtown Seoul.

He growled once again, upset with his luck.

Yunho looked a head, and saw that the light was still red. As soon as it turned green, he yelled at the driver.

"GO!" The man stepped on it, the tires screeching from the speed and the sudden friction with the road. But as soon as they gained speed, the car came to a sudden halt.

"OH MY GOD! MASTER, I JUST HIT SOMEONE!" Yunho pounded against the window, anger surging through his body. He slammed the limo car open, the driver getting out at the same time as he did. The driver kneeled down next to the person they hit, who was sprawled across the asphalt. People started to gather around them, crowding them.

His driver laid the boy on his back, revealing the pale face that Yunho had known all too well.

His eyes widened at the sight of him. Jaejoong looked exactly the way he had the last time Yunho had seen him. His velvety skin was pale, his raven hair silky, perfectly complementing his gorgeous face. His unseeing eyes were shut, his long lashes caressing his cheeks. Yunho sat still, his hand resting on Jaejoong's cheek. He stared and stared, ignoring the passer-by's judging eyes.

His driver, Kangin, started to shake his shoulder, trying to snap him out of his trance.

"Master! We should get him to a hospital! Master?" Yunho came back into reality, kangin's words registering in his mind.

He stood up, taking his long lost friend in his arms as they got into his limo and sped towards the hospital nearest to their location. When in the car, Yunho set Jaejoong's head in his lap, tracing his lips lightly with his thumb.

Jaejoong-ah, what have you've been up to? Do you know how much you've hurt me, do you know how much I've missed you? Yunho took in Jaejoong's current state. His sunken face and his light light body did not escape him. Jae-ah, have you been suffering? Has anyone been taking care of you? He brushed a few stray strands from Jaejoong's forehead.

Jaejoong-ah, a sharp pain penetrated his heart...

Do you remember me?

~

Yunho smiled the first genuine smile he gave in years, at a DOCTOR. The man had made him giddy with excitement when he said that Jaejoong was awake, and was doing just fine. Dr.Choi said that he could go see him!

As soon as he opened the door, he could feel his heart pounding crazily against his ribcage. His breathing quickened, his palm sweating from anxiety. What do I say? Oh god, what if he doesn't remember me? Oh god, I'll make a fool out of myself! He stopped himself, calming his racing mind down. He took a deep breath, and stepped in.

Jaejoong was sitting up, his back against the hospital bed, his head up, staring straight ahead into the darkness. The only thing he could see. His footsteps obviously alarmed him, because the boy's head snapped in Yunho's general direction, his eyes unfocused.

"Who are you?" Came the direct question. Yunho smiled a little. The first time they had met, Jaejoong had asked the exact same thing.

"Jaejoong-ah." Yunho called softly, allowing the other to catch the sound of his voice, in the hopes that he would recognize him. But to his disappointment, Jaejoong's featured stayed confused.

"It's me, Yunho."

Jaejoong froze, as if in deep thought. Almost immediately however, his eyes widened. Yunho smiled unconsciously. He remembers me!

~

After Jaejoong was dismissed, Yunho took the boy to his car. He had called his driver and asked him to bring his car over to the hospital's front entrance.

Yunho held Jaejoong's hand tightly, guiding him towards his car. Even after years of not interacting with Jaejoong, Yunho could feel the overprotective attitude he had held for Jaejoong come rushing back to him. He knew now knew what it was. After years of searching for him, he finally knew why he had been so desperate to find his blind friend.

Yunho had suspected that his childhood play-mate had stolen his heart, but it had never been as apparent as it was when he finally had Jaejoong secured in his arms. Yunho wrapped his arms around Jaejoong, crushing him in a back breaking embrace.

He drove them to a near-by cafe, taking a seat on a couch, taking Jaejoong with him. Yunho looked at Jaejoong, whose head was hung low.

"Jaejoong-ah, how have you been?" A pause accompanied the question before Jaejoong answered.

"I'm not sure. I think, I am what you would call abandoned..." Yunho stared, unable to hide his shock. He was however glad that Jaejoong couldn't see the sadness in his eyes.

"Wh-where is your family? Your hyung and your mom I mean."

"They're dead."

Yunho stiffened. He tightened his hold on Jaejoong's hand, his face holding a grave expression.

"I've learnt to deal with it Yunho-ah. It's okay. You don't have to feel sorry for me." He said nothing.

"Do you remember the days where I didn't come to our park? Yunho-ah, my hyung and my mother died in an accident. I was blind Yunho, I'm still blind, but you know, I couldn't do anything. I don't even know where I was when someone found me. I was starving. Mrs. Lee was the person who found me; she took me into the orphanage she regulated." Jaejoong took a deep breath, his head lifted up, looking in Yunho direction.

He gave a painful smile. Yunho wanted to take that agony-filled expression away, and replace it with the carefree one he had years ago.

"Yunho-ah," Jaejoong smiled again, agony filled eye's overflowing with tears as he struggled to finish his words.

"It's a beautiful day, and I can't see it."

This was inspired by an act i heard on the news.

INSPIRATIONAL STORY: A blind man was sitting by the side of the road, holding a sign that said "I am blind. Please help me." a journalist saw him and stepped toward him. she knelt down and she changed his sign. After she left, people started to give him more money.

The sign had said, "It's a beautiful day, and I can't see it."
