"Gacchan?"
The closet was dark, barely illuminated by the rising sun. Hyde had come to school early per his lover's request, and found himself almost immediately pushed out of the hallway, into what was a tiny janitor's closet and, if the layers of dust were any indication, a rarely used one.
"Shh," the teacher warned, pulling the smaller youth into a hug, arms draped loosely around the tiny form. He could feel Hyde's body tense beneath the touch and momentarily thought of pulling back, but his lover slowly relaxed, returning the embrace. "I'm not going to try anything, I promise," he added softly. "I just wanted a moment." He heard his student, his lover, his heart softly gasp, and then amended what he said, smiling softly. "With you."
Hyde didn't say anything and the smile began to fade from Gackt's lips - had he said something wrong, done something unwelcome? Just as he was about to pull away, small arms tightened around him and it was Gackt's turn to be surprised as his lover leaned up, looking him in the eyes for a moment before softly, tentatively leaving a kiss on his cheek. It was just the faintest whisper of one, so soft that Gackt almost could have believed it didn't happen but then Hyde dropped back, flat on his feet, and smiled shyly.
"Good," he murmured, a faint tint dusting his fair cheeks, and Gackt's smile returned. The ten looked nervous, but the next words he said made the teacher's day. "Because I wanted to spend time with you, too."

Gackt's hands gently stroked along his student's back, slowly letting Hyde relax as he kneaded the tension out of the small form. The youth had seemed abnormally tense today; he had limped into school, and while Gackt couldn't get word out of Hyde as to how he had gotten himself into such a state, he was content at least knowing that he could help the teen relax.
He had found Hyde shivering in the rain outside his doorstep when it came time for their daily tuition, and he had been unable to simply allow the boy to continue on like he was, which led them to where they were now, Gackt's fingers working on a knot of tension he could feel through the boy's wet shirt. For a while there was silence; Hyde was reading through the notes he had taken in class as Gackt worked to help him relax, but then there was a noise - You's car, pulling into the driveway - and Hyde stiffened instantly.
"Sensei..." Hyde murmured, immediately formal, and Gackt shook his head.
"We're not in school," he corrected gently, and Hyde nodded to himself, seeming to understand what his teacher was trying to say, but at the same time it was as though something was stopping him from doing as bid.
Almost like the absolute refusal to divulge information he had shown when Gackt had asked what had happened to him. Looking at his student in curiosity, as though he was on the cusp of understanding something he could not possibly - not without Hyde's help - Gackt watched him flip the page, lips set in a frown as he read through the material.
"I'm home!" You called as the door opened and Gackt called back a soft welcome, noting the curiosity mirrored in his student's eyes. It was almost as though he didn't understand -
Gackt's eyes widened fractionally, understanding, and he let his hands drift back to Hyde's shoulders, kneading gently, keeping his hands there even when Hyde opened his mouth to protest once again.
"Shh, go back to studying," Gackt told him, and for a moment Hyde looked like he might resist, but then he nodded, and the tension seemed to flow freely from his back, surprising Gackt. What surprised him further though was the shy, rare smile painting his pupil's face.
And it made Gackt smile as well- he understood Hyde a little better now. All he had to do was make it clear that he cared.

"Beautiful, isn't it?" came the soft query, startling Hyde out of his thoughts. He was outside that night, sitting in Gackt and You's backyard, gazing up at the stars and moon above him. You sat beside him, eyes drifting occasionally from the night sky to the boy beside him - he had only moved in scant days ago, and it was all but impossible to tell how he was adjusting this early on. All he knew was that Hyde had been all but entirely silent when the teacher wasn't around, and that even then, there was a sort of almost uneasiness between them. Of course he knew why; Gackt told him nearly everything, and there was really no need to keep secrets, not between then two of them. Hyde, though... The boy was a mystery, enough that You was beginning to wonder if coming outside with the teen was a good idea at all. "Ne?"
For a moment, his query went unanswered, and You was about to repeat himself when Hyde mutely nodded, the gesture jerky and almost too fast. His eyes seemed glued to the sky, his entire body holding onto whatever residual tension it had been unable to shed upon returning to what was now his home, and You simply sighed, turning his eyes back to the constellations that they could see this close to the city.
"Gaku used to come out here all the time, before he graduated college. Used to say it helped him relax and think," You tried again, refusing to just give up - Gackt would be gone for most of the rest of the remaining evening and into the night, and he had promised to watch over his friend's lover; he was nearly as fond of the youth as Gackt was, truth be told. There was something about Hyde that, even if his guards were up, made You believe that the boy was truly just a kind heart that didn't know what to make of honest affection. And so he kept trying. "He used to come out here a lot on his own after he first met you, too."
That seemed to get Hyde's attention.
"Really?" he asked softly, voice almost too quiet for the older man to hear. But when he did, he nodded.
"A few days after you started having your tuitions here afterschool, Gaku started coming out here to think. He said he had met someone important and he wasn't sure how he could help them. I didn't know he was talking about you, at first." Looking over at the teen, You was surprised to see him looking over rather than up, and meeting Hyde's eyes, he smiled. There really was just... something about Hyde, especially out here, under the light of the moon, that made him seem so innocent, despite everything. So open, despite his desire to stay closed off to the world. "I'm glad it was you he was talking about, though."
Beside him, the youth made a soft, questioning noise and You turned his eyes back to the moon, leaning back, resting his weight on his hands.
"You've brought so much light into his life, and I think he's been able to do the same for you," the older man said and Hyde nodded slowly, agreeing. "No matter what, as long as you're happy, whatever you had to go through to get to where you are now - you've found yourself a soulmate in him."
"A soulmate?" Hyde sounded genuinely astounded at the revelation - he had never even had a true relationship before, let alone one strong enough to be considered that.
But where Hyde was surprised, You wasn't. "Yeah. With Gaku, I've never seen him give his heart away like that." Gazing out from the stars to the moon and back, You added softly, "Maybe some night you should come out here with him." And it was then, as he turned his eyes back to the youth, that You witnessed something amazing.
For the first time in the entire time he'd been outside, Hyde was smiling, and You couldn't help it when his own lips quirked upwards, mirroring the expression.
Maybe coming out here was a good idea, after all.
